Don't smack on my boy Pujara... love him. Its day 3 with 2 tests to go let England bowl Anderson and co into the ground!

cook is far from the biggest problem with england. their team is so weird. one of the openers isn't even capable of a ton on occassion like current cook, they have the new kid at 4, 2 keepers and dropped one of their 3 allrounders to fit this structure in.

with the players england have there are so many more sensible team structures than the one they chose.

Is that purely Cooks fault?
Lets just say he's a major contributor. and with respect to Cook as opposed to any of the others he's been appalling there a while. But it is a bit troublesome when their best slip fielder is the guy they keep dropping catches off.

The more you think about it, it is one of the more ****ed up test teams balance wise isn't it.

Their keepers the second best batsman the vice captain is a keeper who doesn't keep but is playing as a specialist number 7, a spinner who barely bowls... Its all very odd.

It’s really not that strange. Just the fact Bairstow has the gloves and not Butler throws things out of whack.

Top 7 includes an all rounder and a wicket keeper. Rest of the bowling attack is three seamers and a spinner. It’s absolutely par for the course.

honestly if buttler isn't going to keep and you rate his talent enough to pick him in the team and give him vice captaincy despite his limited domestic returns then you should go all in and put him at #4 or #5

if buttler is going to keep, then bairstow should be given more responsibility at #4

if you prefer neither of the above, then curran plays and you go in with three seam bowling allrounders.

but no, they picked this team with this structure.

Did Rashid bowl with as scrambled a seam in India? Guy seems to be just giving it a rip and hoping it lands the right way.
I believe he has always bowled scrambled seam. Most leg spinners bowl scrambled seem these days, not quite sure why, drift is surely more threatening than googlies in test cricket?

Pitch showing any signs of misbehaving? I think Ashwin will be required to do most of the heavy lifting this time around. I wouldn't really mind us batting even one more full day if that's what it takes for the wicket to deteriorate..

Been a few that have kept low and one or 2 that have bounced unexpectedly..... feels like a day 3 pitch.

Solid stuff from India. Thought England actually bowled okay, but it just shows you don't have to go at 4 and 5 an over in order to boss the opposition. A little bit of grit is good. If I were India I wouldn't think about declaring today. They need to try and grind England's bowlers into the dirt. Anderson and Broad are tired and Stokes is limping (no sympathy). Give Ashwin as much time as he needs to be in bowling shape.
