Dendoncker one of my favourite wolves signings ever. Seen him in the flesh a few times. Loan with 12 million obligation to sign is a snip. Quality operator
Yeah Wolves have had a brilliant window, yes a couple of the name signings may be past their best but this lad isn't and is a bargain at that price. They look like a squad capable of a top half finish to me and obviously have the financial muscle to kick on after that.

Yeah, they're using the same strategy too- Fergie always went for players that were on the way up, then let them go before anyone else realised they were past it.
Woodward has done consistently badly since he has been there. I do wonder if the owners don't care about winning the league as much as they did about CL qualifying though. They think that top 4 is achievable with what's there.

And to be fair they are not 4 better sides in England right now than them. City obviously, Liverpool maybe and after that? Spurs have done f all in the transfer window while Arsenal and Chelsea have done some nice business, will it be enough to get them in the top 4 ahead of United? Doubtful.

Its also possible the owners and Ed are getting fed up with spending money in the areas which were supposedly addressed in previous windows such as centre half.

Ed also does love a "statement signing" its possible he was trying to find out this Summer and time ran out. The obvious one would be Bale who he is adores.

I think Mourinho has actually been a put off for signings, there has been a few rumblings that more than one player has said no to playing under him, and having half the current squad pissed isn't going to help that. Godin using us as a bargaining tool knowing how desperate we are says a lot. Woodward can't really do much if a player has no interest in playing for us - which is something we're not used to en masse like this, we've always had a pulling power right back to the Busby era, even in the 70s and early 80s we could get big name players to join us.

Genuinely think the board weren't willing to sanction any huge signings without players been shifted, especially when its to clog up positions we've a lot of cover for. We've got Smalling, Jones, Bailly, Lindelof and Rojo all earning big pay in defence, why would a board pay out for another big money defender without shifting one on? Especially when we had one of the best defences in the league last year. Beyond links for Perisic again, there was never any real talk of a decent right attacking option, nor any fullbacks with more games than fingers. Genuinely don't blame the board for holding back when it's more than possible the manager could be gone this year if he can't get the players back onside - especially when the guy's already spent hundreds of millions to make the side look worse.

I mean our defence was just De Gea last year. All of our defenders except Bailly were absolute turd, and Bailly was never fit.

Sums up the problem really. The club has zero respect for Mourinho’s judgement yet don’t have the balls to sack him.

The rest of Europe had been expected to follow suit but that looks less likely now. There's talk of England reverting to the old window.

I like it better this way. The clubs complaining about it are just badly run. Notice how little Liverpool have been affected.
Serie A have done the same, their window shuts next Friday.

Yeah so many flair players since Fergie left have not fared well especially last year where Pogba, Martial and Rashford all seemed to get the hump with Jose. I can't really blame any attacking players for not been that excited to hook up with Jose.

Right wingers they were linked with was Willian. Obviously the age and the fact that Chelsea would have wanted close to 50 million or Martial meant that was never going to happen. There was links in rags with other players but not worth discussing.

Defensively its a bit meh, its only one kid in with Young and Valencia likely to play just as much as they did last year. Ideally Sandro would have solved half that issue for now which is certainly an improvement. Dreading Valencia drilling those crosses in and smashing opponents shins, but heh at least he works hard.

CPR is right with the centre half scenario, I can see where the board is coming from and after watching him in the world cup and speaking to people much more clued up about him than me, Lindelof should be persisted with. Baily obviously ineeds to stay fit but he if so its not all bad.

Count yourselves fortunate that Paul Merson isn't your manager. Pogba would have been punted and all the money spunked on Dembele from Spurs

Mourinho wanting to solve short term problems with an open check book isn't something they didn't know before hiring him.

Which is why I wasn't for the idea of getting him in the first place. Take the glamour of the name away and he just never seemed like the right fit for the clubs mentality - negative football, expensive imports, throwing players under the bus (admittedly would be more of an issue if said bus wasn't permanently ****ing parked), even more perplexing was he was Fergie's first choice for the job too...

Shaw starting, Pogba captain. There’s a part of me that pre season was Jose playing a blinding mind game....

That wasn’t great. I sometimes feel like Bailly exists purely to demonstrate how bad all our other defenders are.

There is always some reckless stuff from Baily also. It was meh tbh, Sanchez the main concern, some at Arsenal were saying they got rid at him the right time, not going to write him off yet, but from what we seen tonight and last season its concerning.

Sanchez looked fine in some of the friendlies against easy opposition but was back to his usual output today. Read the Guardian article and hadn't realized how much Sanchez is earning. His output is just awful for the money. The Rooney output and paycheck atm.

Wonder if he hit his peak and we got him on the way down. Which at 29 is possible. Maybe it's amplified by Mourinho who doesn't setup a team to play to his strengths.

Up and running with a point against an Everton side who look tidy. We got lucky with the red card/free kick distance and don't think we played well at all but coming back from behind twice to get a point is a good sign.

Neves won't play that poorly again either.
