Hmm. The India A quick bowlers have picked up seven of the eight wickets in the four day game against South Africa A.

While India were locked in a riveting contest with England at Edgbaston, fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Navdeep Saini made inroads for the A team against South Africa A in a less-intense setting at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The two quicks swung the new ball and later Rajneesh Gurbani seemingly reversed the old one, but the South African batsmen kept stabbing at wide deliveries and continued nicking behind. Seven of the eight batsmen who were dismissed on day one were either caught by wicketkeeper Srikar Bharat or pouched in the slips.
Yeah, its damp and overcast in Bangalore at this time of the year. Still and all this is encouraging.
I think Srikar Bharat is a better keeper than either of the keepers currently in the senior team.

And since Dravid's in charge, I am pretty sure he is drilling the importance of slip catching into them too. Oh wait its the A team, not the U19s.

Siraj is pretty much the only Indian quick yet to make his debut that I think can hold his own in Tests.

Siraj is a seriously exciting prospect - even has the ability to clear out the tail, which the senior team seeming can’t do. A FC average of 20.19 is simply stunning!

That's a problem he'll have if or when he joins the senior team. Our pacers simply don't bowl enough yorkers or wicket taking deliveries to clear the tail. Shami, Yadav and everyone else just goes into LL mode in tests, as compared to say Rabada or Starc who have a wicked yorker even for the best batters. This is why Kuldeep would've been better as opposed to Pandya, who was just making up numbers in the game.

Bumrah is also absolutely ruthless against the tail. Bumrah does not have the ability to deliver yorkers at will, but he has insane accuracy and bounce which is the poison against the tailenders.

Shaw succeeding again, this time against the Saffas. Needs to be in the senior squad, no harm in trying him out

Mayank Agarwal was the more impressive batsman today; wasn't unduly troubled when Olivier peppered him with a volley of short pitched deliveries targeted at the body.
From what I heard, Shaw was lucky to survive the new ball in the morning, in contrast to Agarwal who was quite assured.

Can't read too much into this performance, I suppose; the South African bowling was quite batsman friendly.

Is Shaw allowed to be called up after the 2nd or 3rd test? There is no chance Dhawan can score a 50 in England so call him up asap ffs

Siraj on actual fire here. Has to be in Indian team sooner or later. Think he’s easily better than Shardul Thakur atm. Figures of 4/18 are stunning

Yeah, the guy's 19. If he has a 15 year career, he'll tour the damn place like 4 times at least for tests. The move will pay off in the future if not now.

The whole idea that Shaw would be a virgin international player, so debuting him could destroy him is odd.

DOes anyone here know much about Abhimanyu Easwaran? Sounds like he would be a safe bet as a test opener who can replace Vijay eventually.

He is a solid player. Long touted as a future great in the making in Bengal cricket circles. Bengal's most promising young player.

Get Vihari in for the next few tests. He has probably shown more resilience than our whole middle order can in his 127* so far.
And currently has a pretty stellar F.C. average of 60.96

If we go down 2-0 or 3-0 and the current batch of batsmen haven't figured it out, we may as well give guys like Iyer, Shaw and Pant the trial by fire. Vihari too, why not. Maybe one of these young hungry inform guys does something
