*Official* India Tour of England 2018

Apparently this is a complete list of players who took longer than Stokes up to 2004.

Carl Hooper(WI) 90
Jacques Kallis(RSA) 53
Gary Sobers(WI) 48
Ray Illingworth(ENG) 47
Trevor Bailey(ENG) 47
Ravi Shastri(IND) 44

Perhaps there may be a couple more since then, but Hooper surely still holds the record. Quite surprised to see Trevor Bailey there as he actually has a pretty decent Test record. I guess he didn't have to bowl much as England had epic bowling resources at his time (Bedser, Tyson, Statham, Trueman, Laker, Lock, Wardle, Appleyard etc).
Sounds about right. None of these guys are pure bowlers and there's a sliding scale from part timer/holding bowler to the bits and pieces players (plus Shastri).

Anyone know who the slowest specialist to 100 was?

It'll end up being Rubel Hossain
Had to look him up. That's horrific. Worst record ever for someone who has played that many games?

He should hit 100 wickets by the time bangers drops him for good when he's in his 60s

Probably Lakmal - took 44, same as Shastri.

wow, this guy really is seriously bad. I wouldn't have expected a main bowler to be this bad but his record makes Mohammad Sami's record look like Sydney Barnes's

Sami stands at 85 wickets

Wow, just wow. I went to days 2 and 3, and going to day 4. Kohli first innings was incredible show of grit and a fascinating battle with Anderson, not chance-less of course. Think I jizzed 3 times when he got his 100. Its becoming a 1 man batting lineup though ffs.
DK needs to carry on batting like this tomorrow!

India are going to lose by 30 or 40 runs I predict. Seen this happen far too many times in recent times and it's always edged by the Home team. See Aus vs India Bangalore and India vs SA first test.

Safe to say Edgbaston has delivered again. Hardly ever get a thrilling test like this at the London grounds but Edgbaston and Trent Bridge seem to provide great ones more often than not.
Best place to watch cricket in England.

Been at two of the three days so far and going tomorrow, lets hope it is a classic. Stupid how much better Kohli is than everyone else.

If we manage to win this, it'd literally be the worst I've seen us play and still manage to grind a win. In that sense, we don't deserve it, but then again India's batsmen apart from Kohli have been dreadful, even considering the low standard we've set. Dropping Pujara seems a bit daft now.

Personally, I'd find an England win satisfying just to go against that old mantra of fifties not winning matches. Imagine Kohli scoring the only hundred of the game, the only 50+ score of his team, and India losing to our batsmen who scored 3 50s amognst them. It would be hilarious. Would be a bit of a meme

Of course that probably won't happen. If Kolhi is still in by 150 India should cruise this. If he isn't then I can't see India's remaining batsmen having the application to see this through; If he remains in, even with wickets falling around him, he'll just shepard the tail.

Great test match though. Funny how the worse the quality of cricket on display (apart from the bowling), the better the spectacle.

Stumps came at such a bad time. We had a good partnership going and now they're both going to have to restart against fresh bowlers which means Rashid probably won't bowl anymore.

We always do this overseas and will most likely fold up early tomorrow...that said Kohli is pretty incredible...the saving grace...

This might be a dumb idea but hear me out. Rohit Sharma is watchful as an ODI opener right? He is usually successful in seeing off the swing before going big. Maybe we should make him open? Kill me now.
