Fantastic, well played de Bruyn.

First time I've seen him really look comfortable in the green and gold. Hopefully, he continues to get opportunity and plays well. We need some good batsmen.

Ok. That's after he got to his century. Well played!

And not to forget, TPC gets another five-fer.

I think these were important knocks for both De Bruyn and Bavuma. They're the ones who've been tasked with taking the South African batting forwards, and they need to show that they can do the job. Bavuma has kind of established himself as something of a crucial 30-odd specialist, so it was good for him to go beyond that - 63 in the context of the series is a good score, and De Bruyn is a better batsman than his results prior far to this match have shown.

Nice 6 for, for Herath. Well done SL. Good days cricket considering the result was a forgone conclusion.

Took the game deeper than I thought and nigh on 300 runs 4th innings on the subcontinent is not bad. Not many positives to take from the series but South Africa would be happy with what they saw today.

Positives are Maharaj (bar first day of first test) bowled well and did what we needed of him. Good to have a decent spinner, Rabada still looked good, even if he did not get quite the number of wickets. Shamsi did well in his test. Else no positives to talk about regarding the batting, except for this final day.

Biggest issues are QDK, and Amla for me, but we don't have any tests for awhile now and lots of ODI's and they are going to have to sort themselves out as an integral part of the ODI side. I can't see any big changes until after the WC.

Congrats Sri Lanka

Well done De Bruyn + Bavuma showed a lot of character.

Highest fourth innings score for South Africa in the sub-continent

Congrats to Sri Lanka on the series and to Lakmal on his maiden series win as captain! Also well done to SA who batted well in the second innings..Herath does it again for us..legend.Nice to see Mathews getting some finally as I really do think he was at the last chance saloon..

Super Skipper Suranga has gone full Mike Brearley this Test - batted all of 4 balls and bowled only 2 overs. Fantastic.

Good stuff from TPC and Bruyn

I'm so glad Bruyn is pronounced "brain"

Certainly took some IQ for that knock

Hash was averaging 52.4 after 81 tests current average 47.2 surely he needs to call it quits as the decline is permanent

Won't quit with the WC coming up and the opening partnership with QDK so entrenched. Big call to remove him. After the WC can see him retiring. It is so sad to see such an extreme and sudden decline of a player of his quality.

This series (read: South Africa) was a letdown. Ridiculously one sided.

Lanka have a whitewash, which is a huge, but don't have much else to take away from this. Karunaratnes batting was ridiculous, but not much else to speak of. Bowling obviously very good, but it's hard to know how much to read into it, and the Herath retirement adds some bad news.

A couple of the RSA players did well, but it's one of the worst collective failures they have ever had. This marks a definite end to RSA being good travellers, which is a disappointment not to have in general. I'm hoping India and Pakistan can take over that mantle now. Everyone winning at home is dull.

AUS conditions are just RSA conditions on easy mode. Not too much credit is due for being able to perform there.
