The Records and Milestones thread

Engle

State Vice-Captain
Courtesy of Zimbabwe, Fakhar Zaman has become the fastest player to 1,000 ODI runs: it took him 18 innings, the record previously being 21.
Not only that, he has an ODI average of 76, which surely must be another record (min. criteria of 1,000 runs)

Time for the Bradman comparisons to follow.

Seriously though, I really really hope he can learn to bat long in tests. If he does, Pakistan are golden.

One of Pakistan's problem is that they chuck players into the test team hoping that ODI performance leads to test performance. See Babar Azam. Quite an infuriating strategy if you are a first class batsman grinding for a chance I am sure.

Here's an article on precisely that. Still, I think Fakhar has a lot of talent to just be a one dimensional slogger. He can be a Sehwag/Slater like opener hopefully. That's just the fanboy in me.

Most second innings tons is remarkable indeed. I think he was fastest/youngest to 8000 runs. Back then he looked unstoppable and looked like he'd average closer to 50. Can't blame him having played 150+ in a row though.

He also has the most second innings tons of all time.
And most second innings runs of all time.

It's interesting how some batsmen's have significantly lower second innings averages, and others don't: the player with 10000+ Test runs and their 1st innings averages are:

57.49 Ponting
54.89 Kallis
54.86 Younis
50.90 Gavaskar

47.32 Cook

while their 2nd innings averages are:

56.26 Kallis
54.63 Border
51.92 Sangakkara
