It’s not a choice to get a certain amount of runs. 21 off 21 isn’t bad. He doesn’t decide to get out. Grow up. It was valuable that he got them at a run a ball. He’s a 7 that bowls. He’s not a front line batter. If you’re relying on him for big runs then it’s a problem
The number 7 role is traditionally a batsman first and foremost. Usually that's where the keeper bats, and if your keeper bats higher then that's where you play your big hitter/5th bowler. The batting is a crucial role and we can't be satisfied with our number 7 scoring quick 20s and nothing more.

I agree we are in big trouble that we're relying on Pandya for big runs. But in absence of any other all-rounders, it's what we're stuck with. Here's hoping he find another level to his batting. He's got the raw hitting ability, just needs to put it all together

Gilchrist wasn't too flash after 35 either. Or Ponting. Or Viv. He's just too ****ing old. He's not up to it physically now.
Gilly was the motm in WC 2007 final, he retired within one year of that. With Ponting & Viv, like SRT, you could argue that they did not want to leave a gaping hole in the team already amidst major transition.

Meh innings but it might actually end up being useful. Not entirely sure Karthik/Pant would've done better in this situation so I'll give him a pass for it today.

Rahul needs to be playing no matter what imo. He's iincredibly talented and has the game for ODIs, especially as a number 5

Good lord.

43(67)

Strike rate 64. Horrible knock for a front line batter in the series situation.

India as a team and whole are so far short. They should be trying to get 270 minimum or getting bowled out trying to get it. Surely they can’t get enough now

Agreed, dude just needs time. Not at 5 though stick him in at 3 and Kohli 4. **** the rest of the order because when it gets to that point we've lost anyways.

For all the hype Ben Stokes and Pandaya are getting both can’t hold a candle against Jason holder who is arguably the best pace bowling all rounder since kallis

This is a pretty poor way to look at things. Just because it came at a run a ball doesn't mean it was especially useful. Hardik has to know that India have no hitters coming after him. Just getting 21 off 21 balls and getting out is useless because it brings out Bhuvneshwar to bat with 12 overs to go.
