Congrats to BW, NP10 and other Pakistan fans on here. Brilliant all-round performance by a young team.

Cricket, Lovely Cricket
Enjoyed whatever portions of the match I managed to watch. Love how Pakistan keeps producing great talent. What a team.

What the hell was Root doing when fielding in close on his knees?

England appear to be as much of a rabble as Australia and that's some achievement

I'm beginning to wonder if maybe England aren't very good ...........
For those of us who're sons of Albion it's a sad and unpalatable conclusion, but it's by no means an unreasonable one.

Things could well get worse soon too. Our best two seamers are both in their dotages and, despite the occasional flicker from the embers, Cook isn't the reliable source of warmth he once was either.

I don't have any easy solutions to hand. However I think the case for retaining Stoneman and Malan, chaps whose age is north of 30 but whose averages (after pretty reasonable respective sample sizes) aren't, looks paper thin.

I don't seriously believe even their staunchest advocates would argue either is going to end up in the first water of test batsmen, so why not give youth its head? Would (say) Burns and Pope do that much worse?

I found it odd that he was doing that while Cook was also the silly short leg as they're two very experienced players in the team, in captain and former captain.

But England are short on runs, they've patched over it in the past with Bairstow at 7, Ali at 8, Woakes at 9, and Broad at 10 but now it is a real concern.

Until someone helps Cook and Root in the top 4, and without playing a tonne of allrounders, they've got problems in scoring enough runs.

I mean effectively, they have said in this game that Buttler, Malan and Stoneman are at the very least, the top 5 specialist batsmen in England.

Newman is saying that Keats will replace Rocky.

I mention this as I know some of you are as big a fans of Keats as you're of Woody.

The most damning stat there is how the hell have NZ and Pakistan only played 4 test matches in the last year......
Where do I start Stephen where do I even start to talk about my pain? In the 12 year period from May 2017 to April 2018, Pakistan played a grand total of 2 Test matches. The purely Test players in the side, they had no international cricket from October 2017 to May 2017.

Pakistan just seems to be England's bogey team no matter the conditions and the players selected, the last 6 years at least. Kind of what like England seems to be for Saf. I assume sometime around the second test we will have people lamenting that this is only a 2 test series and should have been at least 3.

I can't even imagine what it would be like....I get irritated enough when RSA only play 8/9 Tests in a year.. nevermind 2. I would probably be raging....

4 in 18 months for NZ. And our last test series before that ended with 5th day rain washing out a NZ win over SA to draw the series because we were playing too late into autumn at home. (First test was washed out too).

Ranked between 3rd (pre May) and currently 4th.

Oh just realised, forgot to congratulate Pakistan on their brilliant win. Convincing from start to finish, totally outclassed us.
