Who would you like to see captaining the side?
A really really difficult one. If its not Root, then it cant be Cook, & I really dont see Anderson or Broad. Not many others deserve selection. Stokes? Bairstow? The more I think about it, perhaps we should go for Eoin Morgan bringing him back in for Malan. He's been playing red ball this season & the one day team play for him. His Test average isnt great but neither are some of the others & at least we might gain a captain. The cupboard seems very bare though. Its a real worry at the moment. Anyone else have any sensible ideas?

It's all too easy, isn't it. Comes to something then two guys with over 900 test wickets between them have been out-performed by a couple of newbies.

I like the look of Bess

He has what it takes to bowl at Test level. His action looks fundamentally good. Not quite there yet but here's hoping he doesn't end up in the discard pile.

And there it is! Pakistan win! Brilliant all round effort by Pakistan. No lollapse in the 2nd innings and no rain either thankfully.

Well done to Pakistan for a fantastic win, lots of potential in this team....

I'm not to sure quite what to say about the English team, don't know enough to really comment; but just feel like there is no high quality talent coming through the system based on the players that are being picked. Is the admin not picking the right long term players or is the bank empty for Eng?

Anderson is probably the worst bowler with over 400 wickets except maybe Harbhajan and Cook is the worst with 10,000+ runs barring Jayawardene.

I know it's one result here and it's the first test match of the summer but I wonder when ECB/selectors are going to start feeling hurt by these inept performances that change of some sort needs to happen starting with Bayliss.

Well played Pakistan.

Dominating from the start to finish. Comprehensive victory in England's backyard

Yes, they were way superior in all 3 disciplines. Their 5th win at Lord's, I think, but surely their first with such an inexperienced side.

England utterly dismal of course. There was talk elsewhere about this being the weakest England side since the 1980s, but at least that side ran a far stronger Pakistan side close both home and away. The way things are heading, we may well be looking and the poorest England side ever. Perhaps the only rivals would be the early1920s side that was trying to rebuild after WWI, but they had a handful of way superior players to this team.

Geez cricket is unpredictable these days because of how close the teams are. If you're slightly off you get creamed.

Congrats Pakistan.
