Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Was there something I missed in Maddinson's BBL performances that merits his selection? Surprised at Lynn not being selected. Happy though. Short will be very interesting on the lower bouncing (though flat) surfaces in England considering how much he seems to like pace on the ball.

Look forward to more 27(38) innings from Paine.
It was a perfect opportunity to quietly move Paine aside (to focus on Tests) and get Carey in as full-time white ball keeper, but I guess they have other ideas. I think Short will do ok in England, it's the slow-turning tracks where I reckon you'd might as well pick Chris Martin as a specialist batsman rather than him.

I for one am very glad Chris Lynn was overlooked, seems very much like his shoulder is still a major issue. Think it may well be time for Justin Langer to send him a strong message, Lynn needs to really get serious and prove he can maintain fitness if he wants a international career

This is the great shame of cricket being a money driven sport. India keep getting away with being a bunch of whiny sooks (the board - not the players). They make the whinging poms look stout and silent.

AFAIK, it is not the board, but the players who (somewhat obtusely, IMO) refused to play under lights (really play with the pink ball). The board asked Shastri and then just echoed what the team wanted.

This was known to the Australian board as far back as 31 January when Sutherland sent a mail to BCCI and Johri replied on the same day categorically stating that they would not be open to anything other than red ball cricket. The rest of the drama has been pure posturing for public consumption by this Sutherland character.

They also make it easy for people to watch it here in India because of the time delay. Rubbish.

Damn. Easy to lump on bcci. Less so the players. Not a good look. I wish there was some way to make Adelaide play like Brisbane just for one test. Do we at least get India at Perth or are we dishing them up completely favourable conditions again?

Got any sources for this?

Having never played a pink ball test before I guess they just didn't want the first to be against Australia, who've played 3? already.

Sure, but we can't just be reading the unsubstantiated statements of a random poster on a cricket forum and be taking it as fact.

I can't find any sources to verify the rumors Borges is spreading. I found this on the NDTV website:

India have refused to play a day-night Test during the tour of Australia later this year because of the doubts over the quality of the pink ball, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Thursday. Cricket Australia (CA) had earlier wanted the first Test in Adelaide to be played under lights to broaden the growing popularity of the pink-ball cricket. However, BCCI Committee of Administrators (CoA) head Vinod Rai maintained that India will not be playing a day-night Test. Rai further added that the Indian cricket board is experimenting with pink ball in Duleep Trophy as of now.

"Yes, it's pretty clear that we are not playing a day-night Test in Australia, no doubt about it," Rai told AFP.

"We have been saying this all along that we are experimenting with pink ball cricket in the Duleep Trophy and that's it for now," Rai further added.

...

"Nobody can put a gun on to our head and say play (day-night cricket). There have been doubts about the pink ball itself in Duke and Kookaburra," Rai remarked, referring to the English and Australian ball manufacturers.

I would like to see some sources that it is the players who told Shastri that they do not want to play with the pink ball under lights.

Well the actual reasons he's given are pure garbage. "doubts over the pink ball" --> what more proof do you need? The exact same game at the exact same venue has happened twice already and the ball was fine.

Maybe MCG can be a raging green top after the warning from last time. (ever the unrealistic optimist)
The one and only time I can think of a raging greenntop at the G you got rolled for 98 on day 1 and lost by an innings and plenty...........careful what you wish for.
