Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Nice, well deserved. The India-England JAMODI series later this year will be somewhat meaningful. It will, IMO, determine the unofficial best ODI team in the world.

Kohli missing the Afghanistan test to play county cricket in June. Interesting move.

The ECB gets approximately USD$ 17 million per year from the ICC, plus all the revenue they raise from their TV Deals and Sponsorships.

You think they'd be able to afford to hire enough people to work at the World Cup they are hosting.

Apparently not:

Now, IDK if they actually see this volunteer program as adding to the community - giving people training, experience, opportunity to interact with other cricket nuts, experience a global event, something to put on the CV...but the cynic in me sees this as a way for them to get free labour and increase their bottom line.

Actually now that I think about it, USD$ 17 million isn't a whole lot of money, especially within England.
I don't get why England would need money from the ICC? Shouldn't they be self-funding?

I know that's just the way it works with all cricketing countries getting something but I don't agree with it. Australia, England, India (obviously) etc. should be making plenty of profits from cricket and shouldn't need hand outs IMO

A lot of the money they make goes into the ICC to start with tho - like, world events raise money from these big 3 countries, and all of it goes to the ICC Pool. I think it's fair they deserve a cut of that, in proportion to how much they bring in.

I think the ICC Funding structure is quite fair actually, it's more a question of if being fair is the same as doing what's good for the game as a whole

lol Nic Maddinson selected for Australia a week after losing his NSW contract

Chris Lynn not selected in ODI or T20 teams, D'arcy Short in ODI Squad

Tim Paine ODI captain (why?) and Alex Carey also in to play as batsman apparently

We should decline to play in Adelaide at all and move the match to the Gabba.

In fact, just rescind the tour invitation to the rude ****s. They can't go on a tour anywhere without having a whinge about one thing or another.
World cricket would be so pleasant if we could just get rid of India, but then I don't think taking an 80% pay cut around the board is in anyone's ideal scenario

Next tour to India, Australia should decline to play in Chennai (obviously) or any pitch where it's turned square before tea on day three. Just politely decline.

Idiotic really. It would be at a great time to broadcast there.

Was there something I missed in Maddinson's BBL performances that merits his selection? Surprised at Lynn not being selected. Happy though. Short will be very interesting on the lower bouncing (though flat) surfaces in England considering how much he seems to like pace on the ball.

Look forward to more 27(38) innings from Paine.
