He apparently had a stiff back, chill.

Meanwhile, how bad were the 3 home top-order bats for the Sunrisers, Bhui, Pandey & Hooda. 1 off 14 balls between them. They need to hang their heads in shame.
Hooda and Pandey both have been crushing disappointments so far this IPL. They just stall the momentum. Hooda is striking at below run-a-ball this tournament and uses up on an average 2 overs every innings with the bat. Pandey uses up about 2.4 overs and score just 18 runs.

While Dhawan is absent, Hales should come in for either Stanlake or Shakib, depending on the wicket.

Wouldn't mind seeing Nabi get a run some stage soon.

Its been explained previously in the thread, he hasn't done much in the IPL for ages. I'd have kept him, but ultimately the batting has not let them down before rather than the bowling.
You're right it has been explained but in my view not at all successfully. The undisputed king of T20 batting (the stats are mindblowing) being replaced by De Kock and earning a comparative pittance? Very very odd. Oh well, I'm glad he got picked up and is killing it yet again.

Cricinfo's latest stats trivia roundup noting that Roy, Pollard and Short are among the slowest starting batsmen. They consider this surprising. I don't think it should be if you've actually watched them bat. Especially Short against spin.

Gambhir's painful 4 (13) was pretty costly in the end, losing by four runs. Although Pant (4 off 7) and Christian (6 off 11) weren't much better.

Is Munro injured? Stunned he can't get a gig ahead of Dan Christian. They should make an exception for associate players imo, I really want to watch Lamichanne in action but it's hard slotting him in.

They're never going to make an exception for associate players outright, but I don't think them being persuaded to make an exception for Nepal specifically if there end up being more Lamichannes is completely out of the question -- both the cricket boards and the governments of India and Nepal have really close ties.

Yeah but regardless of feasibility it'd be nice to have a 4+1 rule for all associates. Maybe Chapman would even go back to HK to qualify :p

Another game that lives up to the IPL photofinishes this year. This is what you get when you have sides that are varied but roughly equal on merits. I think IPL has finally come of age in terms of selection, overall strategy and dynamic tactical changes (notwithstanding the Unadkats)

.. the governments of India and Nepal have really close ties.
not as close as before or as it seems from outside...
India has a right-wing Hitdutva government and Nepal used to be a Hindu State before. But now Nepal has a Communist government. How close can they both truly be?

But yes, cricket boards still have close ties.

That was awesome. I love games like that.
Yap, who says T20s can't be exciting on tracks that support bowlers. Loved the game, such games only get boring when you pay a ticket to watch it in the stadium. Also, Yusuf and Kane's 29 apiece were crucial, the pitch was pretty good for bowling.
