Baggy Green ball tampering: Bancroft, Smith and the Aussie "Leadership Group"

Can we take this to the politics subforum so I never have to see it again?
Yes please!

I hate politics, it's such a backwards looking field filed with self-righteous power-hungry morons who have more teeth than brain cells. They slow things down when speed is required and speed things up when caution is needed.

I come here to talk about cricket, not politics.

I feel 10,000 brain cells less off for having read this tweet. How much dumb can you fit into 140 characters?

The dumbest thing would have to be the insinuation that helping the fast bowling group is selfless, like they're a completely different entity to the XI. Of course Davey wasn't doing it in the pursuit of team result and thus personal glory, course not! He was aiding the bowling group for their own glory! Hail David! But just kinda forgot to selflessly tell said bowling group he was doing it (allegedly)...

And the fact that Warner was the most vocal in negotiations meant he was always going to get hit hard when he them took a steaming dump on Cricket Australia's reputation.

This is a man tweeting who couldn't grasp the fundamental rule of locking your door whilst feeding the chooks on tour. He also goes on later in the comments to say he'd be more likely to forgive Warner than someone in a social round of golf kicking their ball out from behind a tree. And why is he rehashing this a week or more on? CA, Warner, Smith etc I'm sure would rather he shut up.

Drop a brain into Moises' head and it'd have to look for a batting partner.
Yep. While it was occurring he was putting forward theories that were trying to clear Smith and now he's sort-of doing the same with Warner? That he seems to be trying to put it all on Bancroft (while letting those in responsibility off the hook) is the sort of weak mindset that can be corrosive in an organisation.

Edit: and of course Peter Lalor has been RT'ing Moises on this.

Lalor often tweets stuff that he doesn't agree with, to be fair, but thinks should be seen in conversations he's involved.

Henriques just doing an awful job of looking after a mate. I think he's that far down the sinkhole after his first set of tweets that he doesn't understand what he's arguing.

Why is this character Tendulkar entering this discussion? Is it because he was one of the pioneers of ball tampering?

And as far Hitler is concerned, bringing him into this discussion is absurd. I can confirm, once and for all, that though Hitler might have been a real tough guy, and played everything really 'hard', he never brought vividly yellow sand paper into a cricket field.

Hitler played hard and fast but got undone by the stonewalling Churchill, win-at all costs Stalin and a final sizzling display by Truman.

Just waiting for someone to post a The Downfall / Der Untergang clip where Hitler rands about not using yellow sand paper.

Naw. Whatever it is that they played, it wasn't cricket. At best, one could say, they played what the Australians fondly believe is cricket.

Tbf it was the Australian media that came up with the name Barmy Army.
Yes, but as has been pointed out in this very thread, apparently once they adopted it and took on the name for themselves, any and all responsibility for it passes from the originators.

It's fair to say Australians are more nationalistic when it comes to sport. The number of ****s here who go crazy over random sports they don't even know the rules of if we start winning is huge

Have you never met an Indian cricket fan outside of CW?

More "We Aussies do it better than others, we are so special' nonsense being spewed here. You guys really need to get over yourselves. You are not special. 77 pages and it still hasn't sunk in.
