Biggest domestic game of he year this weekend with Parra squaring off against Uni in the first grade final. Would be massive if Parra got up. They last won first grade in about 1965. A draw is enough for them too as they’re the highest finisher in the final. Big weekend for #Bertmentum, Demo, Dermo Abbott and Copperfield in particular. Good blokes all. Wishing them well.

Down here it’s Fitzroy Doncaster Vs Dandenong. Pete Siddle a late inclusion for Dandy, hasn’t played for them since 2014. Darren Pattinson made a comeback this season after three years off and ran through Carlton, taking 6/15 to help bowl them out for 54.

While Maxwell has been sent to SA so can’t play for FD this weekend, who are going for three in a row.

Why? I like the shield final. Took my kids to it. My daughter said she loved going to see it even if cricket on tv is "boring" (her words - she's only 3, leave her alone).
Because it was ruined by weather and Queensland were handed the title as a result. Might as well have not had a final.

Might as well say we might as well not have played a test whenever a draw occurs. I find that logic bizarre. The kids loved going to the cricket and watching it.

It can really ruin the game though when only 1 side needs to win. There have been some great Shield finals but it's weighted pretty heavily on the side of the top team, and even if you think that's fair enough to give them an advantage it genuinely affects the way the match is played by each side.

IMO they need to ensure a more sporting wicket at least, even without the rain Tasmania would have had to really push with socring rates & declarations to make a game of it and Queensland probably win easily as a result. Shield final is great but you can't dish out roads. Neutral venue maybe?

Hardly. Just time to head over with the wife who is English. She's been out here for five years so time to head over there, just playing some local cricket and on the look out for work.

Yeah there are basically two ways I think they can play this:

1. Neutral venue. Team that finishes first still gets an advantage in that they 'win' if it's a draw.
2. Do the opposite and leave the home ground advantage but let the match be decided on first innings if there's no outright result, like in grade cricket. If the home side can manage to draw even the first innings well good on them, but I find that unlikely unless there's rain.

I feel like option 2 should be given a go, but the County method seems a natural conclusion to this matter at some point if it does change.
