OK, I still find it wrong that an injury can curtail the final over of a day or a session. If Root had've been able to go off and allow Stokes to resume the next day, I imagine NZ would've been filthy not to be able to get either one ball at Root or one at the new batsman.
I feel like there’s a lot of opportunities to misuse retired hurt to be honest (given that it’s done on faith and could easily just be used to take a break during a difficult part of an innings), it’s generally a credit to the conduct of cricketers that it doesn’t really ever cause major controversies.controversies.

A night watchman would be ideally placed to do it to end the day. I guess it would be pretty easy to see through, though ... pretty unlikely any side would sink that low.

Major groundhog day today. Almost the exact same situation (7 wickets to get vs 6) against the same opposition at the same ground 5 years ago, and it's the same day too- March 26- my birthday.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I think we’ll sweep through them pretty easily, tbh. England don’t have the best record for batting out draws. And this isn’t 2013 ... Boult and Wagner are much better bowlers now, and we’re not going to rely on 39 overs from Bruce Martin!
We'll either roll them in the first session, or Stokes and Bairstow will play some freak innings and make us bat again for a draw/close win.

Happy birthday to a man with a top drawer username from a fan of Arsenal FC as well as the England cricket team (aka a serious f******g masochist  )

Every now and then I realise just how dated and irrelevant my username is now. Newer posters probably think it's a tribute to a retired player.

Also my DP was intended as a tribute to a rapper who had just died at the time, over 13 years ago.

Yep, totally agree.

FYI, it's law 12.5.2

ODB was a maverick genius who's charisma allowed him to maintain high levels of popularity despite his half crazed antics, idiotic macho posturing and frequent squandering of his own talent. in short, I thought it was a tribute to Andrew Flintoff.

This would be the perfect way to abuse it. Night watchman faces one ball of the last over, retires hurt thus ending the day's play, then comes in again in their normal batting position later.

From 18 to 33 did you get taller or shorter?
That's a tough one. I was a late-ish bloomer but was definitely within a cm or so of my full height by 18. Also, with the addition of 20+ kg I may have actually lost some height whether through actual permanent height loss or just posture. I'm gonna say- about the same.
