I'm guessing they must just not consider Stokes good enough to be a main bowler, hence picking 4 specialist quicks alongside him. It could be a case of one of their "5 quicks" not being in the side for his bowling but primarily for his batting, but then if you're going to pick 4 other fast bowlers anyway then you're just wasting Stokes' utility as an all-rounder.
Ignoring the coincidence that their 5th seamer actually made 60% of their runs, it's still crazy.

The forecast is basically rain all day.

Felt like it was actually pretty special to sit down fairly square of the wicket just as the sun was disappearing, with a beer, watching Kane & Ross bat. Much different atmosphere to a day test.

The square boundary where the photo is taken from is pretty much bang on average size for a square boundary in test cricket tbh. You're closer at Adelaide, surely.

WEATHER UPDATE: The weather forecast is for quite heavy rain during each and every 2 hour interval for the rest of the day.
However, the forecast was also for rain throughout the morning and as each 2 hour interval passes and gets updated it turns out the rain didn't eventuate, so I dunno what's going on. Still pessimistic but it's just cloudy and vaguely threatening at the moment.

So Eden Park is a superbly designed viewing ground with respectably sized boundaries? Agreed
Really though, I feel like you're right but I'm trying to think of other grounds around the world and why they'd feel further away. Traditionally Eden Park has been accused of not being well designed for spectators and if anything being too far from the action.

Variability in the forecast is because there's a big band of rain to the northwest that could hit or miss Auckland. There's other patchy stuff that will probably interrupt play at times, even if we are lucky with the main rand band.

Would like to see NZ push the score on a little bit before the new ball is taken. Nothing crazy, but batting is going to get seriously difficult in an hour's time, especially with so much cloud around. Therefore it's good to hear Williamson pouncing on a couple of bad deliveries this over.
