out of the game, concussion subbed for Pfeffer, who as we speak has just left one on the stumpswhy did Renshaw not open?
Christian for Pucovski the other week, plus a couple of other times come to mind. Is that what you meant? So this would be the first off-field concussion sub?
I don't disagree with it, but it opens up another point of discussion.
Nah he means this is the first time someone has been concussion-subbed for something that happened outside the actual game. Renshaw got concussed in warmup.Christian for Pucovski the other week, plus a couple of other times come to mind. Is that what you meant?
Oh, okay, that's definitely new. CA's Head Trauma policy has it covered it seems.Nah he means this is the first time someone has been concussion-subbed for something that happened outside the actual game. Renshaw got concussed in warmup.
Interesting that there's no regulations on subs, re: subbing like for like players. Fair enough though, player health is paramount. This Policy applies to: (i) all male, female and pathway players and (ii) all umpires (collectively
referred to as Participants):
participating in any CA sanctioned competitions and matches or training for such competitions or matches or training for international cricket competitions or matches (collectively, Elite Cricket); and
You actually could. You could contravene your own club's professional standards during a match, go out on the town, get Ben Stokes'd in the street while pissed off your mind and qualify just fine for a sub.How good would it be if you could get subbed out mid-game because you had concussion-like symptoms because of a massive hangover?
I know in NZ they have to actually nominate who the sub will be should someone get concussed, before the game (I'm assuming they can bring in whoever they like in the unlikely event of two concussions). I'm not sure if that's the case here or not.Interesting that there's no regulations on subs, re: subbing like for like players. Fair enough though, player health is paramount.
Prepare a pitch which deteriorates massively, sub in a second spinner imoYou actually could. You could contravene your own club's professional standards during a match, go out on the town, get Ben Stokes'd in the street while pissed off your mind and qualify just fine for a sub.
The teamsheets that get posted from the toss on twitter just denote the 12th as an emergency fielder (toilet breaks, restrapping, the usual), not sure if there's crossover or it's just assumed the 12th acts as sub. The policy doesn't state the need to nominate a sub prior to a match.I know in NZ they have to actually nominate who the sub will be should someone get concussed, before the game (I'm assuming they can bring in whoever they like in the unlikely event of two concussions). Even better if you win the toss; you can just buy the worst fielder of your specialist batsmen shots after Day 3 stumps until you think he'll qualify the next morning.Prepare a pitch which deteriorates massively, sub in a second spinner imo
We were talking about this just the other week in this thread when Christian came in for Pucovski but didn't bowl. There is definitely potential to take advantage of the system. The teamsheets that get posted from the toss on twitter just denote the 12th as an emergency fielder (toilet breaks, restrapping, the usual), not sure if there's crossover or it's just assumed the 12th acts as sub. Got to be the match referee and opposing captain who are convinced. But interestingly,Concussion Substitute/s will be managed
on a case by case basis in accordance with Appendix C.
Following the notification at C.2.1, if the Concussed Player’s team
wishes to activate the Concussion Substitute, it must have its
captain (or coach where the captain cannot practically do so):
nominate a like-player to the opposing team captain (or
coach if the opposing team captain is on the field of play)
for approval (which must not be unreasonably withheld)
as the Concussion Substitute for that Concussed Player
for the remainder of the match concerned
