Rabada doesn't deserve any attention for the incident, there was barely any contact. Smith gave an exaggerated reaction to highlight it, that doesn't mean Rabada did anything wrong. Even in the India vs SA series, Rabada got some unwanted attention and I think he never really crossed the line.

From what I remember seeing, it wasn't a shoulder barge per se. Smith definitely reacted big though.

Nup, you don't make physical contact like that. End of.

Peter Lalor really is a CA mouth piece and a little turd

Yeah the SBW masks aren't great but when you open a can of worms constantly expect these sorts of things to happen.

Again, Lalor is that species of journalist who would smell his own feces and think it was the greatest and most important thing since sliced bread.

Funny thing about Lalor, most of the time on Twitter and other media he comes across as a decent and intelligent person.

But then there’s the odd occasion where he becomes a total irrational Oz fanboy. iirc during the 2007 Ind/Oz ODIs in India when Andrew Symons & Sreesanath Lalor basically wrote Symonds would be entitled to punch him out.

And I recall on Twitter a while back when someone brought up Lehmann’s racial abuse suspension he was basically ‘that was bad but it was a one-off and Lehmann shouldn’t be defined by that’. Especially noteworthy considering on social issues on Twitter he’s usually left-leaning in perspective.

Having just seen the Rabada/Smith incident, it would such a shame for him to miss the remainder of the series for a slight shoulder brush. It wasn't clever from Rabada knowing the scrutiny this Test in particular will be under (following Warner's antics at Kingsmead) but it didn't look as ugly as some of the comments suggested it was.

Anyway, back to the cricket, I hope this Test develops into the captivating contest everyone expects it to, huge day for the series here.

According to Haysman Rabada's been charged with a Level 2 offence and the hearing's tonight.

Seriously dumb from Rabada. He also mouthed off to Starc when he dismissed him didn't he. It's happened what 3 times now that he's been penalised for doing something after dismissing the batsman. What's the point?

To be fair the amount of chirp the Aussies gave out to SA in the first Test whether it was after they got them out or not makes Rabada's chat look fairly insignificant. But you can't brush shoulders with the opposition regardless of how minor the contact was I guess, just a shame it may culminate in a two-game ban, certainly not helped by Smith's reaction mind.

I mean I don't know if mouthing off or the light brush is such a bad thing either - but that's irrelevant. It's just such an incredibly dumb thing to do given his history, the number of points he's sitting on and how much the team needs him. The worst part is it adds absolutely nothing, the batsmen he sends off are already out ffs.

It was interesting to see some footage of Rabada back in the U19 days, he was bowling damn well but was generally fairly sedate in his wicket celebrations. One has to wonder if Faf du Plessis is actively encouraging this sort of attitude, seems like Rabada has gained far more aggression in a relatively short space of time.

Rabada has some serious ability as a batsman aswell! As a nightwatchman things will rarely be dull the following morning, like it can sometimes be, if he manages to do as his job the previous evening. Looks to have plenty of time to play his shots, keeps it simple.

really surprised he has no 50s in any form of cricket yet, although I suppose it's probably because he hasn't played much domestic cricket at all.

He's on 5 btw @NUFAN. This will be number 6 if he gets there. Hopefully he gets out at 35.
