The fact you can't see the problem here is really disturbing.
I don't know which incident you think I can't see an issue with.

The "speak English" thing was absurd and PC policing at its worst.

Of course his behaviour on the recent video was appalling.

The fact that every tiny thing Warner does gets interpreted as hostile is what is really disturbing.

It's rubbish. Footage of him doing something behind closed doors that isn't illegal or harmful should not almost cop him a ban. CC tv footage like this (filming not in a public place) should be considered confidential unless required by police for an investigation. The person who leaked it should be severely reprimanded and fined.

The level of nationalistic tripe I've seen on here and in other places over this incident over the last few days is sickening. It has been a dogpile on the characters of Australian cricket and its supporters. There has been more of a nationalistic attack on Australians here than there was against the English in the wake of the Stokes affair.

It's bullshit and needs to stop.

And I'll note that Warner sucked it up and copped his punishment while De Kock appealed his like a spoiled child.

I've been pretty quiet over this whole thing but I do think Warner has been treated unfairly harshly over the last couple of years. He used to be a complete dick but he has made a lot of effort in the last few years but the media being blood sucking parasites jump on every tiny thing like it's the gravest offense ever.

I feel like we're living in a perversely puritanical era right now. On the one hand ***ual attitudes are more relaxed than they have ever been but on the other hand we ruthlessly police anyone in the public eye for anything that can be deemed even slightly offensive to anyone.

But now I'm treading dangerously close to RSP stuff so I'll stop there.

As for South Africa, it was as foolish of them to appeal QDK's sanction; just take it on the chin and let it go.

Reminds me of how they reacted to Faf Du Plessis' sancation for ball tampering on their last Oz tour. Sure, that's a blight you don't want against any player (let alone your captain) but the way they reacted with a siege mentality and this ridiculous behaviour with the media afterwards made a mountain out of a molehill (and that was a incident that the Oz cricketers/media seemed to have a fair of sympathy with Faf over).
I agree with you in principal... and said as much earlier

But a double standard is being shown, what made what QDK said any worse than the obvious sledging that was going on the field? Why does he get a demerit point for that and all the other people sledging get off scot free? Only reason is because of the way Warner reacted. So if you react violently to a sledge then the person who sledged gets a demerit point but if you just ignore the person gets to keep going with no sanction? Where is the line arbitrarily drawn?

Honestly I think Warner is mostly misunderstood. His combative demeanor generally gets him in trouble when he's genuinely not trying to do anything dickish. Like that time he got flack for asking someone to speak English. I mean if probably ask someone the same if they were talking to me on the pitch in a foreign language as well.
What one person finds offensive may not be the same for another person.... you say yourself he gets into trouble because he is combative, that is dickish in my books and probably many others, even if he believes he is not being a dick... most dicks don't know when they are being dicks.

Literally the first item of the ICC code of conduct mentions behaviour off the field

True, but two wildly different things happened there.

And lets be honest, the attack has been on the Australian team's culture and hypocrisy more than an attack on Australians as a whole.

I just want to say I don't particularly like QDK`s behaviour either... not just on this but on other occasions I've seen him obviously saying things where he thinks he is being smart, hiding it behind his wkc gloves etc.... does not look good.

"Whose line is it anyway," asks Gibson as SA maintain de Kock's innocence - ESPNcricinfo

Savage.

"They are saying they didn't cross the line, but where is the line, who sets the line, where did the line come from? When you are saying you didn't cross the line but we didn't cross the line, you went very close to the line whose line is it?" Quote:- Gibson
Saw that myself. Don't think anyone could have said it better.

The high and holy route on sledging within rules that Warner has come out with is frankly laughable.

Sell-outs day 2 and 3 for PE hopefully after all shenanigens.
Picked up my tickets for day 2 yesterday... apparently not selling well. Hopefully everybody waiting for the last minute like they do in PE and there is some decent attendance.

Not so much de Kock's behaviour, but his refusal to cop to it and pretend like he didn't say anything at all... That said it was certainly inflamed by what was being said on the field, so the Australian side has to take ownership of the bad effects of their excessive sledging, even if it is a tactic that has caused players and teams to perform below their capacity and thus has contributed to many of their victories...

He's not in the squad, so it can't happen, but is it just me or does Jonjon Smuts like the perfect seven just for PE only? (Don't think he's a permanent test solution in most conditions...) A bit of a Pieter Strydom pick, but without the spot fixing (we hope)...

Stuart Hess seems to think the 'event' that will be created due to what happened in the first test will get people to the ground. Lets hope so.

Weather set fair : 25 , 28 , 29 , 28 , 36

Difference between stokes and warner. No English captain has mentioned beating some up as a valid tactic while sledging is viewed as perfect by most aussie captains. Hence why australians are targeted for it and not just the individual.

I think its way more than how uncool De Kock was for appealing and how manly Warner is for not.

Someone is seriously lying here

Either way, Port Elizabeth is going to be host to some unseemly cricket over the next few days I think.

I actually want to know what did de Kock do wrong? Effectively he has been given a demerit point for sledging?

PE is normally host for some unseemly cricket... not the most exciting of cricket! I am actually interested to see how the PE crowd react though, normally a pretty laid back group of people.
