All I was talking about is the single section I highlighted... it was not specifically directed at you but the in general assumption that this pitch is more spin friendly than normal for SA, it simply is not true. Probably missed the section I was highlighting.... no opinion on Khawaja (except I hope Aus keep playing him...)
That's why the question mark. I was querying whether it was directed at me, and if so, why.

It really surprises me that you say this is not more spin friendly than usual for SA though. Even if it is a normal Kingsmead pitch it's still more spin-friendly than an average South African pitch surely?

Not at the moment... inland tend to be flatter and bouncier, coastal, low and slow. Wanderers is probably the only pitch that is still good old-fashioned green and bouncy. Cape Town is schizophrenic going from green, to flat, to dry and spinning... Centurion can still have a bit of bounce, but also dry. Rest of the pitches in SA are actually pretty low, slow and dry particularly away from the main centres. Perception comes from 20+ years ago and the fact that at least one test every series is played at Wanderers. Next match in PE will be slower, dry and variable bounce by day 2... Cape Town we will have to see on the day.

Elgar stole Maharaj's 10 wickets.... great bowling from the man. Would be tempting to play an extra spinner at St Georges against Aus?

Not if it's von Berg.
von Berg been good and can bat a bit... makes Philander look nice and slender. Also there is Piedt who has come back into some form. unlikely to happen, but still against Aus at St Georges?

GRAB

First Class Debutant
Shamsi SHOULD be next in line? Openers seem rather inclined to play even when don't need to?

Terrible from Elgar, gone totally off the boil after such a good year last year. Need Amla to bat long here... do something majestic.

Fought well against India didn't he
Final test 2nd innings showed fight in a losing cause.... but had to many single digit scores for a man that was meant to have been in form. He is not gonna get dropped any time soon. But we need more from him.
