Good selection, going back to the tried tested 7 batsmen, not throwing Mulder/Ngidi into a charged series straight away. I would assume that Bavuma still not 100% fit.de Bruyn comes in. No Mulder or Ngidi. Fair enough imo.
Without Starc and Cummins that Australian lower order looks awful. MMarsh, Paine at 6/7..eugh.
I don't suppose you were aware of his Renshaw's form earlier in the shield season. And Bancrofts (on the flat Perth pitch)Dropping Renshaw and then to have a makeshift test opener makes zero sense. Renshaw struggled in Asia where he was touring for the first ****ing time.Still averages 59 in Australia. Shouldn't have been dropped in the first place
I hope Smith doesn't get too big for his boots, he may have scored bucketloads of runs everywhere, but Reetam from cricinfo isn't quite convinced yet.Reetam: "Amidst all the hurrah for Smith, people are not looking at him objecctively. He is yet to score a defining innings as yet on a green-top or a rank-turner (Pune doesn't count coz he was dropped 6 times en route his 100). Cook has a Mumbai 2012,Kohli has an Adelaide 2014, where is Smith?"
I don't follow Shield but if you've picked a young Test opener, I would give him more than few test matches especially after he showed reasons to stick with him. A full home Ashes season against hapless England would have helped him establish himself better.I don't suppose you were aware of his Renshaw's form earlier in the shield season. Yes, Adelaide 2014 was a real greentop and Kohli was in constant peril during those tonsI hope Smith doesn't get too big for his boots, he may have scored bucketloads of runs everywhere, but Reetam from cricinfo isn't quite convinced yet.
What a silly person.I hope Smith doesn't get too big for his boots, he may have scored bucketloads of runs everywhere, but Reetam from cricinfo isn't quite convinced yet.
It was a bit hard to pick someone whose form was dire beyond belief.I don't follow Shield but if you've picked a young Test opener, I would give him more than few test matches especially after he showed reasons to stick with him.
