Completely forgot this was on. Not surprised Aus won easily restricting NZ to 150, never going to be enough on that ground.

and Lol @ batting Agar at 3, no idea where that came from.

NZ have always meekly surrendered to Australia at the slightest hint of a big game, evidently even in something as dumb as this. It's what NZ do.

Fans settle for meaningless Chappell-Hadlee series victories and whining about sledging to soothe the wounds of abject surrender in tests and world cup finals too easily, even on this forum.
Now they're even losing the meaningless ones.

Needed at least one bat during the series

Maybe time for Williamson to retire from 20 20 international cricket, the game just dont suit he batting strategy.
It's not even worth discussing, he won't. He would stand to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars through his participation in our T20 side, and remaining in the shop window for leagues around the world (who shouldn't be buying him, sure, but they are). Agreed there's no place for him unless he bats with the intent in Wellington, where he almost had a '**** you' about him with the conjecture around his spot. Then he reverted back to Mr Conservative. There's a place for that in 50-over stuff but not T20.

A lot of holes for us to plug before the 2020 World tournament. Will the six guys still in the set-up who are involved in the IPL get enough meaningful game time? And what about the others, who play naff all T20 if they're involved in other formats for NZ (Gup, Taylor etc)

Lynn was meant to but got injured. They probably would've just pushed everyone up one, but our favourite trend was causing Williamson to hold back Santner during the opening partnership, so maybe the idea was to troll him into having to hold him back even longer by continuing with left handers.

It didn't work at all -- not only did Agar play a horrible innings, but Santner bowled anyway and was actually the one to get him out.

Seifert is trash with the gloves
I know he's just managed to stump Agar (just) but Seifert is genuinely a terrible keeper.
At least he didn't screw that up
He should have batted at 7 and could easily audition for a higher spot, but yeah he's not a good keeper :/

Tim Wade-fert. Wonder what his bowling is like.
B-but...Howsie said he's the best young keeper in the country!

It's still nonsensical when they had Carey and Stoinis still in the wings as well, both who bat up the order (Carey who opens, and is a left hander) in the BBL.

It really did seem just like "meh we're going to win easily just throw the kid out there". At least he didn't waste too much time though.

Seifert been pretty average with the gloves in the last few games. Definitely think Phillips was the best keeper out of the 3 we played over the summer in T20Is.

Seifert is going to have to become a pretty good finisher to justify playing him at 7 (not 8, thanks Mike - Santner is not a T20 7s asshole) and keeping like he is. He didn't even seem to be able to pick a guy he plays with every week, in Ish. As Kippax suggested, Seifert doesn't seem to watch the ball properly. Nerves? Guess we'll find out soon enough. Not a natural finisher either, and I doubt he'll go back to ND and do it. We're really in a position of uncertainty with our LO keepers.

I still think Phillips is the long-term answer. But I'd like to see him at 3 in the T20 squad and that's not going to happen.

Disappointed to see that Chapman didn't make the ODI squad - he's been averaging about 90 this season right? Would add some much needed icing-cake to our middle-order.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Appropriate end to a joke of a series.

Hope it's never repeated - at least, not in the way the fixtures were setup.

Disappointed here too but he's fighting for Nicholls' spot and he's done nothing particular wrong to lose it.

There's no back-up batsman in the squad at all, however. Munro Gup Kane Ross Nicholls Latham de Grandhomme Santner Boult Southee Ferguson is how you'd expect them to start, with Sodhi Henry and Astle on the sidelines.

Weird that no spare batsman but someone will probably get a rest after first two ODIs and they'll bring one in. Same with Boult/Southee leading into test series. Good to see Sodhi back in, even just as injury cover, he's inconsistent but I really like watching him bowl in T20s. Should play all three spinners .

Someone make a NZ England thread.
