Marsh has always had talent with the ball, but has looked somewhat less impressive ever since returning from his shoulder issues. Hopefully this is a sign he is regaining some rhythm and zip with his bowling.

Good to have the shield back. I notice that 3 Test squad bowlers Richardson Bird and Holland have not taken a wicket in 47 combined overs.

Poor Harry Nielsen does look a lot like Vinnie, tbh. Genetics is a bitch.
If he's inherited Vinnie's ability to contribute (without checking, I think all 4 of Vinnie's tons either came in wins or in a crisis), it's a shame he's behind Carey. SACA might lose him. Highlights I saw, has some sweet hands through the off.

As a South Australian, having our players poached is not something I am used to. The last player to leave after coming up through the SACA system (not counting guys like Klinger and Christian who started their domestic career elsewhere) was Peter George iirc, and he was already somewhat on the outer before going to QLD.
If Carey becomes an international regular in the medium term future, this may all be irrelevant though.

He could take 140 wickets for the season at an average of 5 and still not get in the Ashes squad ahead of whichever latest 150kph bowling tearaway has played a few games in the Shield.

I'm still shaking my head at the side NSW selected. Playing in Perth with a Duke ball and going in with four specialist batsmen, Nev at six and Copes at seven. Not surprised they did it, but it's ****ing terrible selection. Everyone who has played with the Duke has said it's swung around corners so you weaken your batting then get disappointed at being rolled for 200.
On Sayers, I hope it works out for him and he takes a **** load of poles and makes the Ashes squad. Could be a latter day Alderman - basically an England specialist.

Used to happen all the time. Prior to George, obviously there’s Harris (though he wasn’t poached but dudded by SACA in contracts, really. Same with Cosgrove.) Going back a bit further, Lehmann and Nobles had seasons in Victoria and they tried hard to steal Hookesy too.
