Haha, following the pattern of every player I've talked down this year having immediately scored runs (and none since for any of the 3 in particular).
Good knock by Deeks to achieve it, 140 v 139 was pretty woeful at EPOO.

Yep, played brilliantly and saw his team home.
But I have to say I had my doubts about the no-ball call in the first ball of the last over. With a free hit and the equation dropping to 8 from 6, it swung the game in Otago's favour.

Yeah just went through the scorecard, like an Auckland age group rep trial of names of a bygone era. Anaru out to Ronnie, he won't enjoy that, Ronnie most definitely will ha!
I thought it was fair enough. Lister got spooked by the batsman moving around and missed his mark by a long stretch. Two straight to Ronnie at long on was dire as well. Waitakere's finest.
CD have some incredible stocks in their bowling lineup. Who's responsible down there? Rance has gained 10km and still swings it. Tickner is as exciting a pace bowler as I've seen in ages. Wheeler is 140 plus too and even Small is doing well to be out there. Whoever is in charge of the bowlers deserves a promotion. And that's without mentioning Milne and Bracewell.
Add to that Ajaz Patel, who was a seam bowler 6-7 years ago and is now the best left arm spinner in the country.

This would be so epic if it happened. We'll still have a decent team in 2019/20 - hell maybe even Ross could be convinced to forestall his retirement for 6 months if there's a boxing day test in the offing. Would definitely make the trip over for it.

Taylor sounds like in a few recent interviews that he’s not planning on retiring after the next World Cup if he’s still in form ... hope that’s the case, think he could keep going for a while yet!
Boxing Day test would be great ... hopefully we’d put up a better performance than the home and away tests a few seasons ago (still feel they were a massive missed opportunity).

Robbie O'Donnell has now got himself a crazily good career T20 record. Average of 75 at SR of 125 after 18 games.
I get the feeling this might be circumstantial/coincidence so far.
E.g. He's rated only 5th or 6th best batsman for his province, he therefore bats down the order where he keeps knocking up not outs. But in due course may develop a reputation as a quality specialist finisher.
The fact his record in the other formats is still modest makes me tend to think its just a quirk at this stage. But kudos to him anyway in turning what is often a difficult and unwanted role in the batting order into a darn good record. Shows he can execute under pressure,
I'm not pumping him for a T20 specialist finishers role btw, I'm hoping this is a stepping dtone on his path to mastering the other forms. He was the top batsman of his youth age group, I have higher expectations and hold out hope for a Seiffert-like 'clicking into place finally'.

That would be great. Not going to get my hopes up yet, though after several years of lacklustre Boxing Day test opponents it's long past time NZ got the gig.
We might even need to play some test cricket leading up to it too.

They were, Boult was recovering from a stress fracture and Wagner only played in the final home test. OTOH, at least Kane hit career best form in Australia and had the likes of Border rating him the best in the world by the end of the series.
Would we compete more strongly in 2019? Don't unfortunately think so. I do know Ferguson would have to play, and we're never going to beat them over there with Santner as our sole spinner. Lyon's dominance and Ali's woes showed how far you get over there on dry tracks without a decent spinner. They're just more classier across the board than us (in playing talent, by no means as people)
