Seriously, we should let Rohit open the batting in the 4th innings and let him treat it like an ODI.
Seriously I was thinking the same thing

Worst case senario we use him as a sacrifical wicket against the new ball.

Yeah exactly. If he's going to get 10 off 50 at 6, might as well try and take the shine off the new ball.

Important question:

Do the third and fourth innings count as the death overs in a test? Is that why Bumrah's taking wickets in them?

wild how a different number in the date has made Elgar look hopeless
Blame CSA for letting the guy basically have 2 T20 hits in 2 months in preparation for one of our biggest test summers.

Elgar has always been a player who needs time in the middle.

Think the new ball is where you have to capitalize on this pitch as a bowling side. Will be much easier for the batsmen here after 15 overs IMO. Wouldn't call it a minefield yet.

it's the sort of good idea that's only good if you acknowledge that you've made a shocker of a decision by picking him in the first place. so not gonna happen
Well not going to disagree there. Should not even be there in the test squad but he is and has been picked so they should work with it.

Such a good spell this from Bumrah, troubling all the batsmen. He’s just constantly at them attacking the stumps. Almost perfect pitch for him. Got to use him in short bursts here, pace is really good and they’ve got to keep him fresh throughout the day.

I still have absolutely no idea with his run-up and his action how he consistently delivers the ball over 140k’s?! Utter mystery.

Just when haters are happy Bumrah makes them eat humble pie. Hate him or love him he's different and fast among indian Bowlers and he is here to stay.

If that had been out that would have been up there with the Ian Bell level of brainfarts to get out like that given the score.

Look at how much the ball is bouncing, its so steep (and now its also keeping low). The ball could never bounce like that in India. Neither would there be the seam movement we have had. So these conditions are a blend of SA conditions and Subcontinent conditions.
