bhuvi begs to differ. also shami is just at 30.
Ah my apologies I some how totally missed bhuvi ,general point still stands concerning the general quality of the seam bowling being average. Also just at 30 is still 30.

Context matters more than average. You can't have an average in low 20s as a seam bowler in India due to the pitches. There is a reason why spinners from the subcontinent have all taken a truckload of wickets while pacers outside have done the same on their pitches, Warne being an exception.
Steyn and Marshall disagree.

30 while bowling mostly in the sc though. if he was from eng/oz/nz/sa it would be a few points lower.

We not playing in India though.

I respect Shami, Bhuvi, Yadav & Ishant enough to say they can challenge us. Probably India's best depth of seam bowling with bounce, pace, skiddy, seam and swing variation. There is no Zaheer but he troubled us and his average was high 20s.

They may not be ATGs but they good international bowlers who will have many good series.

Ishant in Australia comes to mind as an example. I haven't seen him bowl for a while but if he gets it right on our pitches he could be very challenging and he is probably rank 4 of them.

Im interested to see what the teams do with number 6 in the order.

Are we thinking Pandya and Bavuma at 6 followed by keeper, spinner and 3 quicks or will IND select 6 genuine bats (Rohit)or RSA go de Kock and 5 bowlers?

Not a fan of Kuldeep being left out of the squad. Have a feeling Jaddu is going to stink it up and he might have been a good replacement if we had to drop him for whatever reason.

I think Ashwin's poor batting form and Rohit scoring some runs might just tip the scales a bit. Even Rahane's poor form might concern the selectors.

On the flipside it's a bit scary that 4 down sees Pandya, Saha, Ashwin, Bhuvi and 2 bunnies come out. However I'm not sure Rohit adds a great deal more stability. Tough call either way.

SA won't drop Bavuma, pretty confident of that. Are there any better batsmen or even all rounders like Morris who can replace him?

This is the team we should play, and I hope we play.

Whether politics and/or Gibsons wanting an all-rounder/another batsmen at 7 gives Bavuma/Morris a chance dropping Morkel, we will only know on the day. The Zim test will be an interesting selection.

Daemon assuming there are no injuriesn RSA could play Bavuma, Morris, Phehlukwayo or Morkel. If Steyn is good to go the other 10 players should be locked in.

For Zim

Can see Bavuma for Faf definitely.

Zim warm-up

Morris and Steyn playing. But why not Morkel ?

Maybe a workload thing along with his recent injury just delaying a come back? Obviously want to give Steyn best opportunity to get into form and maybe give Morris a real shot at proving his fitness and performance? But obviously real worry if Morkel gets dropped, considering his recent form.

Its probably not a big deal but its good to see him get 7-wickets for Easterns. I just wonder if they keeping him back for India and Morris will play Zim.

I think Morris, Phehlukwayo/Philander, Steyn and Rabada will play Zim. As you say, with Bavuma in for Faf.... may be trying to get ahead of the quotas?

I'm almost certain Faf won't be "fit" for the Zim Test. Elgar to captain and Bavuma and Phelukwayo in.
