Lucky bowled alright vs Bangladesh but that was all for experience. He isn't anywhere near ready for India or high level test cricket so I think they will go for Morris over him.

Also he hasn't been playing very well in the Ram Slam. He isn't a nailed down international performer like QdK to get away that.

Rather let him play for the Dolphins in the 50-over comp starting Wednesday I think.

I'm pretty sure without Bavuma, they'd be in a bit of a trouble to maintain the required color quota for the year.Let's see.

No Maharaj perhaps.
Maharaj will play....

It's a very good point.

They may look at the 7-tests as a whole and realise you may not be able to use the same XI for all the matches.
I can see them picking people for dead rubbers, but unless injury comes along should be the team you suggested earlier.

Phelukwayo has never been a constant domestic performer baring some good death bowling though. I'm sure they see him as a "potential" pick over a "performance" pick.

I don't know when they start counting from, but from the beginning of the England tour they've met the required average of two black players. And with T20s and ODIs that can be used to get the numbers up, it's not so necessary for Bavuma to play tests when everyone else is fit.

Agree on him being picked for potential, and to be fair to him he has done OK so far. But at some point you'd think that he needs to really start delivering on that potential.

Of course.

But that can stay for limited overs cricket.

Right now his game is most suited to it as well.

Bavuma,Rabada and phelukwayo played vs bangladesh so if anything they are ahead currently. Can always fluff the numbers in the t20i.

Normally we would have had a test by now against our festive season opponents but that is fine. All I wanted was a boxing day test against testing opposition followed by the footy later with all the nice foods and treats. I guess Zimbabwe will have to do.

Zim boys arrived in Cape Town then Stellenbosch yesterday. Might as well put the Zim stuff in here in build up.

Looks like Dhawan-Vijay is going to be the opening combo with KL missing out. That's so rough on him, he's been crazy consistent.

Nah, Vijay was one of our better batsmen overseas in our last cycle. He's a prime candidate to nick off to Steyn's outswingers, but we don't really have anyone better. If he gets a bit of luck early on, he has the patience to play a longish innings and take the shine off the ball.
