So the Aussie selectors have actually been correct in most of their calls this series.

Been a horror show from Broad so far this match. How much longer can he justify being a new ball bowler?
You have to wonder if he's nearing his expiry date too, he didn't have a great home summer from memory. Obviously not advocating dropping him yet but will be interested to see if he's playing in the 2019 Ashes.

He's bowled well enough but with little penetration in the other matches, but he's been pretty awful here. Doesn't have the control.

He needs to go and learn how to swing the ball away from the right handed batsmen again and practice bowling over the wicket to the leftie again. His around the wicket strategy means his wrist is no longer going right through the ball and he's pushing everything out to the right. It may have brought him 8/15 but it's badly affected his bowling otherwise.

Edge falls short...

I was serious about the Marsh selections though - the way the selectors are going, another failure by Handscomb/Bancroft might see M. Marsh join up with his brother for the 2nd test... would likely score big and secure their spot for a while.
Seems my prediction from prior to the first test is coming true... though with somewhat mixed emotions. Happy for Mitch to score some runs but he needs to show the same counterattacking instinct on pitches other than roads in the future, also gutted for Maxwell who might never play a home test.

England are staring at 600 and another long, hard slog to save this game. Will need to bat 4-5 sessions, you'd think.

Was just checking who can send down some rubbish part time rubbish. It turns out Vince has an FC 5-for. Perhaps Malan should chuck down some 'leg spin'. Surprised Root hasn't bowled himself yet.
