Not sure they have the bowling to do it. Probably not bouncers. Around the wicket maybe. I'd like to see someone try with the keeper up.

If they want bouncers perhaps they could rent Neil Wagner.

I wish it was still the time when you had to follow through to hit it that hard.

Smith wont ever get out, Mitch Marsh about to ton up...Not a road though.
Matters not if it a road or not, when a batsman walks out to bat its all about him being able to time the ball, concentrate all the time, work with his partner, respecting the good balls, picking the bad balls, playing each ball on its merits, not doing anything stupid, knowing where the fielders are, and many other things. Yes the pitch plays a part or not, just ask the batsmen who didnt make runs in this test and they will tell you that a road is not a guarantee of runs.

You can forgive the umpires for missing no balls when they also have to be alert enough to evade missiles coming at them at 150 kmph from 22 yards. Can't wait for robotic umpires.

Quite happy for MMarsh. Must be hard being the butt of so many jokes, knowing that even fans from your own country don't necessarily want you to do well. He's risen above that and played quite a superb knock. Hope he tons up.

Feel awful for Maxi though.

So the Aussie selectors have actually been correct in most of their calls this series.
I still have questions over their treatment of Renshaw. That said, I think we had some insight yesterday about it when Clarke, in commentary, described Warner as a bat who prefers his opening partner to feed him strike. From that perspective, I can see see how an occupier like Renshaw would just not work for him.

The selection of this Marsh has been perfect, though. There’s a huge partnership in the making here I reckon, Marsh is playing superbly without really exerting himself. Chance of a double himself here.

Selection of SMarsh generally has a lot less to it but it’s probably okay whilst you realize what you’re getting from him. Is world class for one knock per season but that one knock will probably win you a Test.

Smith seems to have mentally tired a bit past 30 mins, scoring slowed and gotten a few edges. But Marsh’s aggressiveness has meant they haven’t lost any momentum.

I initially thought no way, but if he ends the day on 120-odd he wouldn't even have to go any faster to get there and we could still declare with 4 1/2 or maybe a bit less sessions and really throw everything at England. Smith just maybe could go for a triple, although he's not batted quite as fast today.

If he's there at the end of the day he'll have a lot more than 120. More like 160, probably.

A bit deflating when your 3 experienced king-pins (Cook, Anderson, Broad) are putting in flat results.

If England go 3-0 down here what can you even do for the last 2 tests.

MMarsh of a couple of years ago would probably tee off post-ton but having Smith out there might influence him to just keep at his current (excellent) rate and really hurt them. Beautiful technical innings so far.
