I kind of want them to make Dilruwan opening a permanent thing, even though I'm sure he'd average about 10 doing it in SA/Eng/Aus/NZ. Their other openers suck and this would give them a way to play five proper bowlers without leaving one of the better batsmen out.
 Come on.

One of Gunaratne and Roshen Silva also has to be given another go. So they could open. Six bats with Mathews and de Silva as all-rounders.

He might get another go just on the basis of being an opener. Someone has to open with Dimuth; lets just hope they don't make Mendis or Dhananjaya do it.
Perera lol. Scored 40 odd too. That was weird.

edit: multi tab owned

If they draw, it's quite impressive how such a much maligned side is able to get one of the best series results in India in the last few years.

But remember, none of the runs/wickets in this series count.

So, with Mendis back on the next tour, SL will have nailed down their middle order to:

Mendis
Mathews
Chandimal
de Silva

right?

Does Gunaratne come into the picture?

Samarawickrama is obviously out. Thirimanne is obviously out.
As far as the squad is concerned.

Asela Gunaratne,Kusal Mendis are in.

Thirimanne and Dasun Shanaka out.

I would like to see more continuity for Sadeera.Plus Indian quicks did bowl well throughout the series.

Got lucky in the first Test TBF. They were about 5 overs away from losing that one. Probably bad light played a role in the late wickets.

Full credit for hanging on in this Test, especially given all the pollution issues they've had to fight through.

This doesn't bode well for our chances of taking 20 wickets in good batting conditions abroad. If teams don't go overboard in preparing seaming wickets, they have a better chance of beating India.

Fair play to SL, this has been a much better show than I was fearing after Day 1.
2 out of 3 tests this series they've put up a huge fight. Legit could've won the 1st test considering the positions they got into. They've been seriously very impressive.

They dominated a good 2 and a half days of that match though.

I will never be able to fathom how Thirammane gets so many chances when you have players like Mendis and De Silva around. If SL get their selection process sorted out this team has some potential.

Dickwella is just so fun. I'll make an effort to watch when he is batting.

Yeah, it was mostly the total and utter thrashing the 2nd Test was, and the fact that the 3rd Test seemed to be going the same way that had me fearing the worst for them. I still don't rate the team (or, at least, the bowling attack) particularly highly, especially without Herath, but the batting definitely has spirit.

Chandimal seems to have matured into a world-class batsman. If they can find a decent opening partner for Karunaratne, their batting lineup looks promising going forward.

Sadeera, Dimuth, Mendis, Mathews, Chandimal, Dhanajaya, Roshen, Dickwella, Dilruwan, Lakmal, Pradeep would be my test team with Gunaratne focussed on ODI cricket.

Roshen looked super impressive.

Should have ideally debuted when Samaraweera retired.

Averaged 50 across 10 years of FC cricket.
Must have played lot against quality spinners like
Murali,Herath, Dilruwan, Pushpakumara,Randiv,Sandaken,Sachithra Senanayake,Prasanna etc
