That would be terrible.I'd be kind of tempted to put Ali in there tbh.

Oh, probably. But I don't think moving Root to 3 is the best idea, but Vince looks a risk of 1 down = 2 down whenever he bats IMO, and even in this innings I do not feel particularly confident about Root starting against full, fast bowling with any movement. He's just too eager to drive early on before his feet are going, and is a risk on both edges, so I'd definitely shield him at 4 a bit. That would be terrible.
Its Stewart and Russell all over againChanges for Perth : Foakes in and Bairstow up to his rightful position at 5. This 100% should of happened at the start of the tour
Woakes at 8 instead and this could work. Quite like it.Root 3, Bairstow 4, Malan 5, Woakes 6, Foakes 7, Moeen 8
Woakes can't hit the ball of the square. He's an absolute 9Root 3, Bairstow 4, Malan 5, Woakes 6, Foakes 7, Moeen 8
Moeen would be exactly the same risk as Vince though really. Thing with Moeen is that he always gets shunted around because him failing in a position seems less serious because he is getting the team for his bowling anyway but it does him no good whatsoever and it never actually helps the team either. Moeen has been great for England at 7 or 8 and he should never move from those positions ever again.Oh, probably. I don't want to move Bairstow either though. Not really great options there, it seems.Moeen would be exactly the same risk as Vince though really. Why is Jennings suddenly being mentioned again? In another year, Hameed and Jennings will come in and people will try and forget Vince and Malan ever were allowed to play for England.
Yeah Jennings strikes me as a nick-off merchant in Australia. Why is Jennings suddenly being mentioned again?
Hameed, Clarke and Lawrence possibly but it is obviously pretty much wishful thinking at this stage.
I mean really what you want is someone who scores runs, how they score them is immaterial.Yeah I don't see what it is in Moeen's game that solves the issue we have with Vince at 3. Really you want someone who can chew up balls and shield Root, Bairstow and the rest. If we clone Stoneman I'd use him there, even if he's hardly been spectacular.
Think it has to happen but who bats 3 instead of Vince?Changes for Perth : Foakes in and Bairstow up to his rightful position at 5. This 100% should of happened at the start of the tour
Lyon imho, though I suppose Pat might shade it given his contributions with the bat.Yep those two are the difference. Cummins comfortably the best player in the series so far.
For the series in South AfricaWell done Australia. Things starting to shape up.
Ali is actually good down the order though. I don't think Vince is especially more likely to score runs at 5-8 than 3-4, but Moeen is.Oh, probably.
