I have nothing against the decision, mind. But stumpings exist within the crease, seeing how the line belongs to the umpires, so one would think there was more discussion around the subject. Am I missing something obvious here? Won't it be easier to drag some part of the heel back into safe space if there was lesser distance to travel? A matter of mms but still.Makes no difference, the distance from the stumps to the crease line is 1.22m regardless of how broad the line is.
Do you even know what the width of the line is in other countries, say Sri Lanka for example, do you know what the line width is there?. Are you able to answer that question?.I have nothing against the decision, mind. So how do you know if in any other place in the world, he would have been safe making the exact same sequence of movements. Crease lines are just marked out by the groundsmen, I doubt if you measured each and every cricket ground they would all be exactly 1.22m from stump to crease line. He could have made the same movements in NZ and been a full 2cm out of his crease for all we know. The line is straight but its too hard for some people to understand, so lets no go there and just play along with them. The width of the line is completely irrelevant, it would be like complaining that the inside cork of the ball is a different color to the color of the cork inside another ball, totally irrelevant.I'm afraid I can't. Just musing, no criticism.
As far as I know its at the umpires discretion, Its all irrelevant, you just have to have something grounded behind the line whether the line is 1.22 or 1.21 or 1.23m from the stump, the rule is very simple, something needs to be grounded behind the line, that's it, that's all you need to do.Assuming it's the back of the line that's 1.22m from the crease, the thickness should be inconsequential? Just need to be very certain that it conforms to this along it's entire length.
As for it getting distorted during play, how feasible would it be to check up on it at intervals and re-draw it if needed? Or does this happen anyway?
My understanding is that they normally draw and redraw the lines using a stencil. Because the line was wearing away more quickly than normal in front of the wicket the groundsman started free hand marking the middle of the line during the intervals as a quick fix. The middle of the crease line became thicker and not universally the same width. I suspect it happens quite a lot but this time the call was so narrow it probably had an impact on the decision. As a decision it was nowhere near as bad as the Broad catch or the Edgbaston catch that wasn't off Harmison or one of half a dozen other decisions in a 12 month period. Before umpire reviews it would have been not out as it was that tight. In future I suspect there will be a bit more science used when lines are being remarked. It hasn't really impacted the result just the margin of defeat and if luck doesn't always even itself out over a series it tends to over 12 months.Assuming it's the back of the line that's 1.22m from the crease, the thickness should be inconsequential? Just need to be very certain that it conforms to this along it's entire length.

Clouderson - most punchable face and a dick usually. Also a little bitch who swears after covering his mouth to the cameras.what are your reasons? i'm curious. ive only seen them(especially Broad) on the receiving end of harsh treatment from our players and fans so i have a bit of natural sympathy toward them. was there an incident in an Eng/Ind series?
Maybe Clouderson could use some free healthcare when the sun's out. Maybe a direct billing doctor in the dressing room?Shri still saying Clouderson in 2017 is the saddest thing I’ve read since his thread demanding free healthcare.
Yeah, **** like this is why people hate him.Is Anderson going to be fined for his throw at Bancroft yesterday? Starc was fined for similar a couple of years ago.
