Oh well. That was a good game. Drama drama everywhere.

Well done to Lakmal and Bhuvi and Kohli.

wow what a fifth day and a test overall.. we got away there thanks to the light.. I did say earlier in this thread that I would be amazed if we weren't whitewashed and I am amazed that we didn't lose.. Great bowling from Bhuvi and Shami there and nice to see Dickwella taking the fight back to them with a bit of cheek..

It might be a draw but Dickwella made sure that series is alive with his banter with Indians. Series on

So Bhuvi or Lakmal?

I'd give it to Bhuvi, scored some runs as well.
He scored 8 and 13 while Lakmal scored 16, so not much in it in terms of runs scored I guess. Kumar gets it due to the stellar second innings bowling performance though. He was very good.

Tbf Sri Lanka dominated most of this test and probably could feel just as annoyed as India, if not more, that they didn't win.

Great test match though. Some truly crazy shifts in momentum.

Did anyone actually expect Sri Lanka to win a Test match here? Our batting is probably the worst it's been in decades and a draw is probably an upset really.

I think India's general crapness in the conditions on offer gave us a chance that we didn't deserve. Not sure why they bothered making it so hard for themselves though. A flat pitch would have played to their strengths and given them a win although it may have resulted in a more boring game of cricket.

Typical selfish Kohli chasing personal milestones when he could have declared earlier to give India more time for the win

The BCCI actually cares about the health of Test cricket now IMO. All the recent series in India have been fantastic to watch.

Actually I don't put it down to this since I was watching session by session. What I really didn't get was promoting Jadeja over Saha and Ashwin and then him doing absolutely nothing to do to up the scoring rate, that was really baffling.I still don't get the point of sending Jaddu at 6.Kohli started showing signs of aggression only after Saha fell, up to that point he was just going through the motions. What I felt was Kohli wanted to kill the time as much as possible. This SL team is definitely low on confidence, yes they beat Pakistan in UAE 2-0 but you can't expect them to score even 150 runs in 1 and 1/2 session, especially in a wicket of that caliber.

At the end we can pinpoint on individuals but this was game that India could have actually won,had they managed to show the same intent they showed during the last session of yesterday(4th days play).

It's not about intent, after the quick wickets in the morning India were playing to not lose, rather than to win (and that was the correct approach at that time), and Kohli didn't get in his elements till after the new ball, if he had tried to go after the bowling before that he would have probably hit a four and then got out.

The only way India could have done better with this day was if they hadn't lost the early wickets, once that happened they did the best one can hope for. Declaring on a lead of 170 would have been stupid, a team playing in knowledge that they can not win almost always plays worse than the team that has a chance.

Just watched the HLs, those deliveries to dismiss Chandimal and Dilruwan were awesome.

Retrospective isn't always fair. Reducing SL to 75-7 after the first three-four days of this game is a good performance in itself.
