NSW leave out a "stalwart" from their team...
Smith takes responsibility for Cowan call - ESPNcricinfo
Admittedly, NSW often have a ridiculous oversupply of cricketers (and export a lot to other states / county cricket.)
I assume this was an accident, posting questionable Aussie franchise decisions in the SA (off season!) match thread....

PS: Could a mod possibly change the thread name?

Philander getting a good 50 is nice, Ngidi now has 9 wickets in the match. Hamza is bothering me, top scores with 88 but he keeps not building big hundreds when he gets in and it was one of the things I liked about him the most. And von Berg must be 2nd spinner in SA at the moment particularly with scoring runs as well...

Is Ackermann actually available for SA selction? (Am sure it been mentioned... but I`m to lazy to look, and I gave up on my memory many years ago.)

I think Ackerman has gone down the Dutch Passport way(ie Eu passport).
Don't think he can,he can play for Holland,as with his passport and several seasons in Holland, he qualifies for the Dutch.
Think thats is his best option to play internationally for him.
Anyway with quotas he won't get a look in,they won't drop Bavuma despite how average he really is.
From what i can decipher the sports minister wants 7 quotas, which is just above 60 % which is what he wants.

No, not at all. Just for comparison since Puttick was recently dropped by Cobras and this was implied as something that could only happen in South Africa...

Has the sports minister said something new recently? As far as I'm aware there's been no changes proposed to the current requirement of an average of six players of colour (and a quick Google hasn't thrown anything up). That means that Bavuma can be dropped, which he could very well be if they go with an all-rounder at seven rather than a specialist bat once De Villiers comes back.

The sports monister brought up this 60% figure last year, and wanted it at 60 %,altho the board did not have this set in stone.

On Ackermann more likely to follow Van dermerwe and play for the Dutch.
Holland ikely to have 13th rating status for one dayers, and I doubt he will leave England, except to play matches for Holland.
I suggest Tom Cooper who is in his early 30's is likely to come back for Holland.

From that SA u19 squad.

The bowlers are decent but younger. So they wouldn't have had much senior exposure. Australia and India will be strong. Windies were competitive against us too.

My preferred team. Being that it is in New Zealand. Play 4 seamers. Rely on Coetzee, Ntini, Jones to chip in with runs otherwise hope the new youngster Khumalo is decent and play him for Mnyaka.

Matthew BREETZKE (19) - EP
Jiveshan PILLAY (18) - Northerns
Raynard VAN TONDER (19) - FS
Jacob MILTZ (17) - Gauteng
Wandile MAKWETU (18) - Gauteng
Jason NIEMAND (19) - Border
Gerald COETZEE (17) - FS
Thando NTINI (17) - WP
Fraser JONES (17) - KZN Inland
Jade DE KLERK (18) - EP
Akhona MNYAKA (18) - Border

Reserve 4 to come from :

Reserve batsman
Jean DU PLESSIS (19) - SWD
Andile MOKAGANE (18) - KZN Coastal
Reserve all-rounders
Hermann ROLFES (18) - Northerns
Mondli KHUMALO (16) - KZN Inland
Reserve spinners
Kgaudise MOLEFE (17) - Gauteng
Kenan SMITH (18) - EP

I could reply to this for your lack of understanding but I won't because it isn't my style to take digs at other people on the forum.

Quite interesting. Not sure this will go down well with selectors and CSA financially.
Listening to Inside Edge the other day, was quite interesting that Kepler and others were very much in favour of Gibson taking over from Langeveldt. But seems clear that Langeveldt should take over at the high performance centre. Also an interesting choice for assistant coach, either Pothas or Benkenstein (If I remember correctly). Toyana to stay at Lions?

It makes sense considering what Gibson was and he clearly still wants to contribute to strongly as being a bowling mentor. The good thing is that Langers understands from an interview with him. That is also important.

First I've heard about those 2 as assistants. Must be as he knew them from the county circuit?

But what about hiring 2 guys who monitor the whole system and are Gibson's eyes and ears for who he wants in his teams. Basically nullifying selectors.

They seem to be giving Gibson some free reign. Some the assistant coach has to do with the fielding, think they feel our batting with Mckenzie is strong. Gibson takes over the bowling. And Pothas (in particular) can help look after the fielding were we are weak at the moment. Also maybe reduce the overall staff... (might help the CSA budget).

Benkenstein was a top fielder. Currently director of cricket at Hilton College and senior KZN Inland scout/selector for youth weeks.

The appeal of Pothas though is he can be someone for QdK to talk to as well about his keeping as well as fielding. I suppose he is contracted to Sri Lanka so I wonder how much we would be willing to pay.

The problem is in recent times the fitness guy (Now Greg King & previously Rob Walter) was doing the fielding drills as well ?

Do you know what Maurice Aronstam was doing with the Proteas ? Also got our Indian friend who is so passionate as technical analyst.

Did Paul Harris have those nuggets of info ? I noticed before Otis Gibson was announced Harris was whipping Gibson's name out of no where as he clearly had inside info being mates with some of the guys.

Yep, it was Harris, he had heard some stuff... so? Apparently approached Pothas already? But don't know what he has said. They joked that they could not afford Benkenstein since he was employed at the private school....

I imagine that Pothas would jump at any opportunity to get away from the sinking ship that is Sri Lankan cricket at the moment.
