Definitely Ambris. He keeps for Windwards and was one of the standout batsmen in our List A tournament. Hopefully he does well, we desperately need some good wicket keeper/batsman performances.

Ireland were destroyed by Afghanistan in FC match.They still managed to do well in One Days and won two games I think

Alright Guys
I know I'm late to the party but I was just tired of all things cricket after that third test tbh. Probably just disappointment I guess. Anyway when you look at the results on the face of things then it looks like we've been thrashed two times and got a lucky win in-between. Personally I just think that we saw glimpses of a young team who showed their potential, but also showed their naivety and fragility in equal measures. Here are my ratings from the test series.
Brathwaite= Played a decent knock in the second innings of the first game despite the mess that was happening around him. Then of course he was an absolute hero in the second test and helped to win us the game. The third test he was disappointing but he's only 24 and already is so vital to us. If he continues to develop then he can go down as an all time great opener for us imo.
Powell= When you look at him playing those drives and shots on the legside he looks so good. But he always seems to find a way to get himself out. At 27 though I guess he can still improve and he did look decent in this last test. I want to see him dominate our first class competition though and if no-one else emerges to challenge him, then I guess he can stick around for another series.
Kyle Hope= A complete waste and thank God Darren Bravo is coming back into this position. Back when he was young he had loads of potential but just couldn't break into the Barbados side consistently. He moved to Trindad and just had his best season yet, and believe it or not many have always said he was a better bat than his brother LOL. But sadly he got badly found out on this tour and lord only knows what will happen to him in the one day series now.
Shai Hope= Brilliant, just utterly brilliant. It's not just the boys calm and fighting spirit that I admire, but it's the class of which he goes about his business that is so impressive aswell. This tour is hopefully the start of a very fruitful career and I can't to see how he progresses. He is no doubt the best batsman to emerge for us for a very long time and hopefully he'll get a stint with a county team too just like Kraigg.
Chase= Came into the tour as our best batsman and a 50 plus average. Obviously, this tour wasn't great for him but he too is only 25 and it was his first time in England so we can only hope he can learn from this and work hard to address the issues he faced with swing. By all accounts he's a hard worker so I have no doubt he will learn. Roston is a big part of our batting order moving forward so a good first class season and he should be good to go again.
Blackwood= He can hold his head up for sure. Played a brilliant knock in the embarrassment that was Edgbaston, and again he stood up twice in the second test too. His courage is brilliant to watch but I want to see Jermaine add some more strings to his bow now. Yes, be aggressive but let's start to make those 50s count now Blacky. I've seen him get his head down and battle for Jamaica loads of times and he needs to start doing that more often and get used to scoring tons,
Dowrich= Just poor all across the board tbh. His catching was poor and he barely scored a run. He's a very solid bat when he's confident but I think his positions is very much under threat now. Jahmar Hamilton's average isn't great but he's been very good for both the A-team and Leewards over the past year or so. Ambris is also a very fine prospect. So Dowrich will need to have a storming first class season to keep his place imo.
Holder= His captaincy was just pathetic at times. But his performances weren't bad at all. Done well with the ball and hit a few decent knocks down the order. He'll need to improve tactically though otherwise questions will remains over his leadership skills.
Bishoo= The way he was treated was shocking but he just seemed to accept it which isn't good. Again if Jason doesn't trust him then we're just gonna have to find someone else for the next series.
Roach= Great to have him back and him being on form kept us in this series all the way imo. It was criminal how many catches were dropped off his bowling aswell.
Gabriel= Like Roach he had some great spells and their partnership along with Holder should serve us well over the next few years. Needs to cut out those no-balls though because it's just not good enough.
Joseph= Had a tough first test. Done well in the warm-up matches though so I'm hoping the experience will serve him well.
Hetmyer= Done great in the two games he played and should have probably played in that third test. Like Joseph we just have to hope he takes a lot from this experience and I think him, along with Joseph, may play for the A-team against Sri-lanka next month.
Cummings= Was a waste of time tbh. Can't see him breaking into the side and we would have been better served to bring a spinner instead.
Reifer= Didn't really get a chance and wasn't the best in the warm-up game he played.
So all in all there were some very good performances mixed in with some average and very poor ones. England, man for man, have more better playes and more experience than ours. Couple that with them being at home then winning in England was always gonna be a long shot. England could rely on performances up and down their side, if Cook didn't score then Root did, if Root didn't score then Stokes did, if Stokes didn't score then Ali did etc. And in the bowling department it was much the same. We on the other hand had to rely on Kraigg, Shai, Roach and Gabby in the main with a little bit of Blackwood and Holder. So when Kraigg or Shai failed, we were badly up against it. We're on the right course to get better though and if we can uncover some more gems here and there I think we can really become a decent side again.
As for England. Well they clearly have problems with Stoneman, Malan and Westley in this top order. Perhaps they will grow into the roles but I think it will be tough for them in Australia tbh. Cook also look vulnerable after the first test when we targeted his off-stump and Bairstow was totally undressed by Roach again, just like he was when he first came into the England side. Broad didn't look himself either and one wonders how the bowling attack will cope without Gibbo? We'll see. Congratuations to Jimmy though, such a monster in these conditions and lord knows how England will replace him once he hangs up his boots.

For some reason I'm really not up for T20 tomorrow. I think because the tests were so interesting and involved lots of young players I was really up for it. But the likes of Gayle and Samuels trudging around with hands in pockets because they're freezing their balls off in Durham in mid September just doesn't hugely appeal.
I'll enjoy the ODIs if there is any play but otherwise I just want the test tour of Zimbabwe to start, I want to see how this young side continues to develop.

Don't get me wrong I do like t20 and in the right circumstances they're great. CPL has done wonders for cricket in the Caribbean. It's just a one off t20 in these conditions feels completely meaningless. Bring on the ODIs!

It is at my ground and I'll neither be there in person nor watching it on television! Meaningless match. No interest whatsoever.
I found it hilarious they rested Stokes though as Durham were marketing it from the perspective of, ''The Battle of Stokes v Brathwaite Part 2''. Still they sold out all the tickets (just: with a week to go) so it didn't matter in the end, but if they hadn't sold it out I bet Botham would've been livid.

Yeah I completely agree with this. Domestic T20 comps have become really fun and brought a lot of money to the game, and the World T20 has a place now, but bilateral T20I series are the absolute pits of cricket.

Hmm people in this thread seem to have forgotten that 5 match ODI series at the fag end of summer (and indeed autumn) are just as **** as they were 5 or 10 years ago. If you're going to be critical of something, make it that, not whining about an equivalent but vastly shorter and less dragged out cash-cow.

I'm not a fan of any of the endless bilateral limited overs stuff really. In my opinion, in any given cricket season, the ICC should cap the one-dayer bilaterals at three and the twenty20s at two, with two (odi) and one (twenty20) an ideal. That would still leave between 3-5 limited over matches to dish out to the venues who didn't get a test, your Chetser-les, Rose Bowls etc. It always feels like an anticlimax also, the bilaterals when they are tacked at the end of a test series. You can have say an Ashes or D'Oliveira trophy in England, a thrilling epic which goes to the wire, then at practically Christmas time the Aussies or Proteas are still in England playing bish bash bosh pyjama cricket which nobody cares about!
It is just a way to bring in the drunks, the casual cricket fans, and get them to part with their beer money, the dressy-up brigade barmy army types. Surely nobody is watching on television by then?

Have you seen next year's schedule? It is utter garbage. Pakistan freezing their bollocks off in May for two tests - a nice way to treat a team who almost beat England at home in a great series last time round - then five billion one-dayers (v Aussies and India) then the Indian series tacked onto the end, lasting until practically Christmas. Have we forfeited 'proper' cricket in July-August as it certainly feels that way (thinking of the domestic season also, with all of that Blast ****)?
