I'm pretty sure I also read somewhere that rent prices in Sydney are "unaffordable" anywhere apart from like 50 minutes away from the CBD. Thank god I have rich parents.

As someone who lives in the heart of the city I can tell you Sydney prices are affordable only if you work full-time

Tricky trying to survive as a student or unemployed person

They're insane e.g $1.2 million + to live out the back of Kellyville

I honestly don't understand why anyone would live there unless they are either well off or have no other option

I mean if you're already in the market then you're fine

So far I have spent $1400:

Australia $1000 @ $2.15….if it comes off…$750 profit ($2150 - $1400 spend)
Draw $400 @ $4.70….if it comes off……….$480 profit ($1880 - $1400 spend)

Today, should I cover my bases and put $200 on Bangladesh:

Bangladesh $200 @ $8.50…if it comes off ...$100 profit ($1700 - $1600 spend)
Australia $1000 @ $2.15….if it comes off…...$550 profit ($2150 - $1600 spend)
Draw $400 @ $4.70….if it comes off………...$280 profit ($1880 - $1600 spend)

Or are the Bangers no chance?

Thanks

I took the advice, and popped an extra $100 on a draw instead which is now paying $4.40

Nasty weather for Friday, and you'd think the Bangers would just be trying to stonewall on Thursday.

Wow. I was paying $600 a week in 2013 in Wahroonga.
Wahroonga is a nice part of town. There's some bloody big joints up around that way iirc. Like a sort of well-heeled village in the middle of suburbia.

Also, Alex Wileman (ex Mellow Yellow girl from the 80s and later Lotto presenter) used to live there. God damn she was stunning.

the norm for rooms in this area is closer to 250, but I just got a very small, crappy room above a shop. Sometimes I wish I'd paid more. But the price to location ratio is amazing

A friend's son has just moved into a 1 bedroom unit 5 stops west of Sydney University and is paying $730 a week

I know he isn't being ripped off as it was arranged by another friend

well, stay away from 1 bedroom units. Everyone knows that. But still that insanely expensive. I've always stayed in sharehouses, 3 people min. At my last place in Newtown the 5 of us split 1200 so it worked around 240 each. He should move to sharehouse with randoms 20 min west and see how much money he saves.

My house is on King Street btw so very close to Syd Uni too
