This time last week if such a scenario was proposed, yeah sure.

However they shown in the first test, they can bat on this surface, so its arrogant to suggest they would be rolled over when they batted again. This is not peak Broad either and Root will have also been aware that Woakes was a liability after the first innings. They dangled a carrot which they really did not need to when you consider they won the first test. Would a draw have been so bad?
