This is a gripping test match. I hope Brathwaite does well after the lunch break; he's a likeable character. Reminds me a bit of Dravid.

Not sure what to make of that session. Feel the game's about as open as at the start of the day. Annoyed that we've given Brathwaite so many lives, I do like him but really we could do with him being out by now.

Honestly not great. A fortunate runout and a costly drop, the bowling decent but not much to shout home about. Making for an exciting game.

Get Braithwaite and it's game over.

Jimmy due a wicket here, bowling some absolute jaffers. Only a matter of time till one of them get nicked.

You do know Roston Chase can bat too right? He's potentially better than both these blokes

I'm getting waaay ahead of myself, but have 2 players ever had two 200+ run partnerships in the same test? Or even a 200+ and 100+ partnership

You are right. But Roston Chase is yet to prove himself in England. (although one may argue today's pitch is closer to West Indian than English)

It's annoying how 4th innings chases often start so well and then all go downhill in a flash. Hopefully this doesn't go that route while the Australian one does.

Stokes for Woakes after this over?
I was wondering why Root gave Woakes first go after lunch, and sticking with him for as long as he has.
I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

But at present WI are pissing this.

This makes that declaration look even more stupid. Extra runs and less time to chase would have been reassuring right now especially as England don't need to win this test, however "got to be aggressive" etc.

Yea Woakes has bowled absolute trash, he's comfortably the 5th bowler in this Test. If you're going to make ****witted declarations you can at least get your best bowlers on.

Moeen on one end is keeping it tight, rotate at the other basically until you find the right man.

Yup. That and what looks like the dumb decision to drop TRJ. ****ing idiotic.

Brathwaite is the first visiting opener since Mark Taylor in 1989 to score a century and fifty at Headingley. Last time any visiting batsman achieved this at the venue was Gary Kirsten in 2003.
