He's taken his last 350 wickets at 24.Yeah I think about 27s is fair reflection of him as a bowler. Below ATG category but better than 29-30 calibre.
Thats because TRJ is not an allrounder and there are many players like him but Stokes is of a kind which is rare these days in cricketNot really in doubt. TRJ has been best bowler in county cricket for about 3 years but Stokes has a great role in the side and only a player like him could do it. Yes he gets it wrong at times like today but he would walk into every side in the world easily but TRJ wouldn't.
Most of his poor tours this decade have coincided with injuries. Australia 2013/14 - turns out he was bowling with a cracked rib all series. South Africa 15/16 and India 16/17 misses the first Test of both series with injury and struggles to recover his bowling during the rest of the series. He hasn't really 'averaged 26' for any time though has he? He's averaged high 30s in his first few series, and then low 20s for this decade punctuated with the odd poor tour.
Really this kind of conversation reminds me that career averages tell you less than just about any other stat
I dunno, I reckon the Aus and English lasses would put up a bit more grit, fight and determination than these sorry sacks. Not even men against boys is it, men against girls perhaps.
