Chase looked all at sea for that innings
Yeah, but conditions where he made those runs were very different to here.Chase, the West Indies one recognised batsman.
I think my comments in the SA thread to the effect that he may be on the way out may be the most wrong I have ever been, or likely ever to be, about anything.Jimmy too good
Anderson's average has dropped like crazy these past couple of years when he supposedly 'in decline'.
Would say 26s is about right if he could get there. As good as someone like Gillespie but below Pollock, McGrath, Donald and Waqar.Yeah I think about 27s is fair reflection of him as a bowler. Below ATG category but better than 29-30 calibre.
This applies to many overseas tours played recently tbhGood advert for 2 tier system this.

This is a lot less of a contest though than some of the others. This applies to many overseas tours played recently tbh
He hasn't really 'averaged 26' for any time though has he? He's averaged high 30s in his first few series, and then low 20s for this decade punctuated with the odd poor tour.Would say 26s is about right if he could get there. As good as someone like Gillespie but below Pollock, McGrath, Donald and Waqar.
Even if that's the case, I just don't like the mentality of 'these two teams have a big gap in quality so they shouldn't play each other'. It's that attitude that has contributed to cricket only being played by 10 or so countries. It's the complete opposite of what should be happening. This is a lot less of a contest though than some of the others.
Think back to the SA series we just had and if they hadn't dropped chances at certain stages of the game that ended with a big score by the batsman then it would have been a lot closer than it was. This is just a cat playing with a half dead mouse here.
