***Official*** West Indies Tour of the UK 2017

There has been a pattern in England for the last two years of top order collapses and the two ginger northerners and possibly Ali rebuilding and rescuing things. If Root does not have one of his big knocks, that is how England's innings will go - guaranteed.

We're nowhere near as poor as people think, a lot of this stuff I've seen written is based on ignorance because they haven't heard of most of our batsmen. This group actually give a crap about West Indies cricket which is nice, they will fight hard and I truly believe a few of those batsmen will make excellent test cricketers. Still, I agree with your scoreline, England will be too good for us in their own conditions, particularly at this stage in our development, we are just too inexperienced.

Looking forward to seeing us bowl against that England top order though. That's our best chance.

Basically yeah. We're talented enough to win the odd test against anyone and cause some scares at the moment but over a 3 test series against a team like England we will probably be beaten relatively comfortably. Hopefully in a couple of years we'll be ready to win a series like this but definitely not yet.

Would be good for cricket if West Indies win one test, ideally not at Edgbaston.
Or just put up a decent fight, would be good to see one close test this summer. I'm looking forward to seeing some new faces and formulating my own opinion as most of these boys are new to me.

Hard to get excited about this test series. Poor opposition who we should beat easily and it starts at a stupid time too.

Time to turn the tides, time to re-write history.

We can do it.

Rally,
Rally round the West Indies,
Now and Forever.

Go Windies!!!
One thing I will say about our current test side is they have reinvigorated my love for test cricket because they actually seem to care. Success means a lot to them and they fight hard regardless of the circumstances. I know they will try their best and I honestly don't feel I've always been able to say that over the last 10 years.

So I'm giving them my full support regardless of what happens.

I mean we've not exactly excelled against poor West Indies sides in recent years, and this team have persistently shown that they have fight even when the quality is lacking.

So if we continue to take them lightly there's no reason we couldn't have another Sri Lanka 2014 on our hands.

I'm excited to see some day/night cricket, even if many endlessly miserable England fans around the internet seemingly aren't.

We are more experienced in this type of the longer game, hope the boys put it to their advantage... Chase and Brathwaite have to step up, Powell making runs at the right time, we have to put up the runs on the board. Our bowlers will take care of the english batsmen.

I'm all for day/night test cricket and think it's a positive step forward for the game. I do have my reservations of how well it can work in England though compared to other cricket nations simply because of the climate, and from a purely selfish perspective I'm not a fan of it because the times total suck for me in Aus and I doubt I'll see a ball live of this test.

hang on.

in the caribbean england have been very underwhelming, no doubt.

but in england, since 2000 this is how the results read.

played - 18
england wins - 14
west indies wins - 1
draws - 3

they haven't won a test here in 17 years. ambrose and walsh were taking the new ball then.

Blimey mate, you're going back 17 years with that?

I was literally just thinking of the terrible display in the West Indies last time out, and that embarrassing Tino Best match. I guess we won that series comfortably enough, but damn if not for rain that Test could have been a humiliation.

'Should beat easily' is a phrase that should never be used with this England team, is all I'm saying.

Yeah I am not sure how anyone can predict us to steamroller them, we are going to collapse once a Test match minimum and we are dreadful in dead rubbers even if it gets to that stage.

Because 2000 was the first time England won a series against the West Indies in 30 odd years and every team they've sent since has been piss poor and generally dispatched of with some ease. This current lot might be the weakest of the lot.

England are no great shakes but they shouldn't have any issue here. The gulf in class between England's best players and the West Indies best is large.

No doubting england are the better team especially in our conditions. But a combined xi would still include a few windies players. Mainly because our weakest positions in the top 6 are where the WI's best batsmen come in. Assuming everyone ppaying was availible for selection, I would go...
Brathwaite
Cook
Bravo
Root
Chase
Stokes
Bairstow
Ali
Broad
Gabriel
Anderson

Could probably find a spot for chanderpaul too but that ship has sailed
