We have the big four, but it feels that (India aside) there's a real lack of depth in Test batting stocks at the moment. So many teams are reliant on one or two big names to carry the top order. So many unsettled batting lineups these days... Eng, SA, Aus, SL all have multiple positions in their batting order which have been revolving doors in the last 2-3 years.
Tbf India's latest test batsman turned out to be not very good (even though he did triple ton up before leaving). Wouldn't say we have a lot of depth. Would be a pretty big surprise if they chased anything over 250 really.Need another 100 at the very least. Rain should take away a fair few overs.
Maybe, but we really should be setting them way more than that.Would be a pretty big surprise if they chased anything over 250 really.
I was suprised. Didn't have a clue, tbh.Wow, Stokes nicked that. No daylight and a noise.
Yeah, it seems less that Root is less having a bump due to the captaincy as often happens but is just continuing at his previous, very high but slightly frustrating, level.Getting out twice to Olivier bowling nothing balls isn't good but given the totals in the game just shy of 100 runs isn't bad.
Conversion rate issue will never go away though.
