The thing is Moeen is a proper batsmen and I "think" they picked Dawson as the No 1 spinner.........it just got all ****ed up when Mo took 10fer at Lords and Dawson was dead set shite.
The make up of this England side is really weird right now and people are focusing on the 6 bowlers and saying it's ridiculous, but really 2 of them are probably in the best 6 or 7 bats in the country, but are also occasionally going to win games with the ball, but can't be relied upon to do so.

Yeah, but the same two can also not be relied upon to perform a rescue mission always. Less pressure on them with the bat is a good thing given that they are being bowled quite a bit too with Wood and Dawson being in the team.

4th and 5th best bats in the country IMO, and that's the problem, our 3rd 4th and 5th batsmen are either all rounders or the keeper, and do we really want to be going with our keeper at 4, Moeen 5 and Stokes 6 and then just having bits and pieces batsmen and bowlers until Broad and Anderson (when Woakes is out)?
The ballance of the side is ****ed. Jennings needs to go, that's awful defensive technique, and honestly I'd rather keep Ballance at the minute, at least Ballance has a gluttony of runs in the CC, and has actually made starts in each innings, and has prior test experiance.
He looks really bad doesn't he, like Lyth bad.

Stoneman is surely going to be in the squad. Also made a century on TV recently which is a fine way to get yourself picked in selector land.
Realistically Jennings and Ballance need dropping but they won't do 2 at once.

Ballance might be tempted to point out that he's batting out of position, whcih doesn't help. Whether he's good enough anyway is debateable, but just saying.
I was going to point out that Phillander is showing what can be done with the first new ball if you're good enough, but I suppose our boys didn't have the benefit of bowling to Keaton Jennings.
