18th June - FINAL - India vs Pakistan

Ashwin is a worry. Ashwin was rank in the previous game. His form in ODIs in recent times has also been poor. Do we select him or some one like Umesh or Shami (not sure how fit Shami is) is a big decision.
Ashwin kept things tight in his first spell ffs. Did you even watch the ****ing game?

This is certainly one of the three biggest India-Pakistan matches of our lifetime. We have this awesome streak over them in WCs, but when you think about it, only the knockout matches really mattered. So '96, '11 and the WT20 final (though no one took the format that seriously back then). '03 was also a really sweet win though it was a group game. Let's be honest, no one cares about the group stage wins where neither team went on to do anything in the tournament.

Pakistan have the opportunity to reclaim some bragging rights if they win this one.
Not many of us may know but.. India & Pakistan played in the FINAL of 1985 World Championship as well.

Final: India v Pakistan at Melbourne, Mar 10, 1985 | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo

''This was the only instance of the World Championship of Cricket. The Indian team that won the cup was adjudged by Wisden as the 'Team of the Century'."

This 1985 world championship in Australia was pretty much the Champions Trophy of that era, yet it's all forgotten. So perhaps these CTs won't stand the test of time unlike world cups.

Btw, India happened to beat Pakistan in the group stage as well (of that championship), beating all 3 of Aus, Pak, & Eng.

Good team that, backing up their world cup win in '83 with this in '85.

Bank of India seem to be paying a 50% return over just a few hours. Chucked my house on them on the bookies. Can't see India not making it past Pakistan, most likely case this'll be a pretty dull final and Pakistan get bulldozed

Just spent the last ten minutes simulating the match a few hundred times in my head. Yeah, Pakistan don't stand chance

Why is Sehwag criticising Sarfaraz not speaking in English? Sehwag has been in terrible form last few days.
