Penalties is a crap way of deciding a season of hard work. Well done Huddersfield and hard luck Reading.

I can now say I have seen my lot beat a Premier League team 5-1 home and away in the same season.

So Arsene met Kroenke yesterday and they'll tell the board sometime today what the decision is. He's so staying, hopefully we can get to work on Alexis/Mesut and bringing in players pronto.

Not been able to get online much over the last few days. But oh boy Saturday was one of the greatest things ever. So happy for Wenger. WAFG.

The missus just got interviewed on Australian radio talking about what it means to someone from Huddersfield to be in the premier league.

I knew there was something not right about the ending to this domestic season. We'll be into June and there's been no Test Cricket in England.

I love how the Arsenal narrative has changed in the last month or so. For years the media and various ********* pundits have been claiming how Arsenal have had to compensate for no trophies by qualifying for the Champions League, but now things have changed all of a sudden they apparently have to compensate for failing to qualify for the Champions League by winning trophies.

Yes, as a non-Arse fan i have noted that myself.

They should just keep at the none winning the title/Champs League which is a consistent narrative at least.

It's been a nice natural experiment for the idea that winning the cup means much more when you do it by beating someone good. The 2014 cup was received quite positively because it was his first trophy in a while, but the 2015 one seemed to be met mostly with eye-rolls. This one has been received best of all, by far.

I don't think it should overshadow how dire they've been over most of the league season. Saying that, it's puzzling that they somehow still ended up just one point short of Liverpool and a hair's breadth away from CL qualification. 75 points is also a better tally than they've managed in a few years now. Beating Chelsea and Man City to win it is a good achievement considering they've generally struggled in big games of late.

Overall, I don't buy the argument that Arsenal and Man Utd. winning trophies somehow makes their seasons better in any way compared to Tottenham. Consistency in League performance is still the barometer AFAIC. The cups just put a slightly positive spin on an underwhelming season by both clubs.

There is a difference between having had a better season and being the better side.

I actually agree with you re: Arsenal but I would definitely take United's season over Spurs' season despite the fact that the season definitely showed Spurs to be a better side by a decent margin. Ultimately, both United and Spurs have ended up in next year's CL group stages and United also won a couple of trophies along the way whereas Spurs didn't. That simple IMO, doesn't make us the better side though.

United 'deciding' not to go for Griezmann. If that's really what's happened it's surely a mistake.

Yeah but they weren't dire for "most" of the season, that's the thing. They had a really dire run for about a month and it totally boned them. The rest of the season was good-mediocre, which on this occasion was not enough to cut the mustard.

Yeah, that's probably more accurate.

I still wouldn't take United's season over Spurs'.

Man Utd. started the year with the objective of competing for the league title (amount of cash spent, Mourinho's proclamations about getting his targets etc.). They were out of it 1/4ths of the way into the season.

Spurs' goal difference was 40 or so better than Man Utd's. Europa and League Cup don't paper over those abyss-sized cracks. Not to mention how easy their draw panned out to be in Europe.
