I actually hate play-offs of any type. I understand all the arguments about it keeping the season open for more teams for longer etc. But I think that if you work hard enough and put together a team good enough to be promoted you'll finish in the promotion places, and if you don't tough ****. Turning a league into a cup competition is ludicrous.

I think the "Conference" might vote that nonsense through just because it gives more teams a chance they don't deserve.
It's a discussion that comes up every year, think there's a thread about it.

Personally I'm massively in favour, as watching an huge percentage of dead matches at the end of the season is a killer financially to so many clubs, and was before.

People can moan about modern football, but teams don't go out of business like they did, and I believe Play-offs are one of the reasons.

It's why despite how hellish and pointless non-league clubs are, I'm in favour of relegation to the conference too, having matches that matter is SOOO important, I remember in the 80s when basically seasons were over in January in the basement for many clubs.

Play-offs is a tough one, this season it's a tough pill to swallow to be so much better than everyone else aside from Lincoln and not go up, but last season would have been over in November without play-offs. The last time we were in the play-offs before this we'd finished third in League One and were top three all season so it sucked then too. But it is what it is. Expanding it to six teams, at conference level, is nonsense though. Might have done us a favour last season, but ultimately no team in 5th has ever won them, so why they think a side in 7th would be is beyond me.

I just hope that we can go and win the league next year because another year of play-offs will finish me off as a human being

All that being said, the away leg to Aldershot, even if in the end it meant nothing, is right up there with winning in the League Cup semis and at Goodison.

Play offs are sooo much more fun in so many ways. You do probably get weaker teams going up but there's rarely a lot in it. It's definitely worth it IMO.

Although I'd hate a league winner to be determined by play off. Might just be status quo bias.

Yep, three semi wins have to be up there in the top 20(sounds a lot but I've been supporting them for decades and decades) of City following.

Oxford one was for naught in the end, but it was our first visit to Wemberlee, and was a helluva comeback and penalty shoot-out. Stanno (we will never let you go), and ****ing Steve Tully.

26 years for me now watching the whites, no promotions, three relegations, four play-off semi defeats. Easy to see why it ranks so high tbf, but the cup successes were incredible

Haha ****, this post just made me realise I've been an Arsenal fan for about 22 years.

I've now supported them for a period of time that is more than twice the length of time I had been alive when I started following them.

Weird.

Reducing a 46 game season to 3 games worth of playoffs is mental.

At least it's not as bad as the SPFL playoffs which are rigged against the Championship sides.

Tickets booked to train and stadia, guess I'm going to Wembley again.

Maybe it'll be less annoying this time and I won't spend half-time entirely queueing for the bogs. and if you do it in a plastic cup they get huffy about it. PC gone mad.

Stat fans

"Exeter spent 59 days of the regular season in the bottom two - more than relegated Hartlepool - with only Newport and Leyton Orient spending longer in the drop zone."

Haha quality

I went the toilet at half time on Sunday and there was a ridiculous queue at the toilets next to the gangway. I wandered over to the toilets by the turnstiles and there was nobody there

Yeah, I think so. My only change would be, say with Championship to Prem, is to have the 3rd bottom team in the Prem play off against 3, 4 & 5 from the Championship. I vaguely remember something along those lines when the play-offs were first introduced. But I won't pretend that I feel strongly about it.

Usmanov made an offer of $1.3B to take over Arsenal which was rejected. Apparently if he can't buy us soon he's selling his share and moving onto Everton.

Just take the money Stan. Please just take it.

So cringe seeing Arsenal fans begging for a bloke like Usmanov because they think there's a chance he'll be a sugar daddy.

And I have been supporting Leeds United for nearly 2/3rds of my life (19 years). Scary

I always find this time of the year a bit of a relief tbh. Especially when there's no international competition; a couple of month's detox is a good thing.

I normally agree but I just want us to start again and crack on with getting out of this awful league

Cheers. Will see how the summer progresses but there doesn't seem to be any standouts that should worry us this time. Maybe Aldershot. I reckon 95 point points would be more than enough next season.
