It's called the Andrew Ellis Protocol, if you are not better than Andrew Ellis in either batting or bowling, then you are not a specialist. If you're not better than him in one form, then you're at best a part-timer or specialist.

Andrew Ellis is the line all players should be measured to for he is both not good enough and not bad enough to be considered a genuine batsman/bowler. CDG comes up short in the bowling
I try to avoid thinking about Andrew Ellis and that elbowy bowling action.

>tfw Colin de Grandhomme is not only opening the bowling in a Test, but is in fact now the senior new ball bowler in the side

that was a very tired shot from elgar. Batting out two sessions, however slow, could well reap dividends as sa look knackered out there.

I think de Bruyn is probably the last player in this top seven I'd make open the batting. Literally any other batsman in the side would've been a better call.

People are just underrating cdg because he is a few k slowe. However I fail to see what softee bring with the new ball that cdg doesn't. He uses it much better than southeern. After the new ball neither are effective anyway.

Btw is de Bruyn's name being pronounced right? Keep thinking of Ashwin every time the comms say it
