Rain radar shows that Hamilton is just catching the outside of a band of rain cloud, looks ok again after that.

Does this always happen in Hamilton, where the rain clouds steer themselves around the town? I would have thought no, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Nice opportunity for Black Caps to press home advantage. Never know with weather forecasts.

Think Proteas need this wake-up call. A season can't all be rosey like it has been.

This pitch would have been very interesting if there was no moisture around with it drying out but it doesn't look like it will be as testing as it could have been. Minimal in it for the seamers now.

Any particular things you think they've been sub-par on?

Their batting collapse in the first innings of the second test was surprisingly bad I thought, though it escaped much notice after De Kock and Bavuma rescued the innings and NZ topped the bad batting with some that was worse. In fact SA's top order have been surprisingly vulnerable all series - not something I expect from SA to be honest.

That is exactly it.

Cook back to his walking wicket ways which brought in Amla early all the time and if we honest he isn't at the peak of his powers right now. Then Duminy has been duck, 30 or hundred this whole season. Temba needs to convert scores but he has had a decent series heading into England. Elgar, Faf, QdK have been our go to guys this season.

Elgar needs a partner to take pressure off him and in turn Amla. The alternative for Amla is de Bruyn bats 3 and he shifts to 4.

With the ball. Philander looks a concern after his injury he came back from Australia with. Still got the skill both ways, the lengths and accuracy but just too slow for batsmen to adjust.

Think KG could do with a rest as well but IPL is calling.

That's a top catch. A shame he couldn't quite get to three figures, but a fantastic contribution from Raval anyway.

Morkel's celebration was a bit in-your-face.

WTF is wrong with Raval?
You've just been playing astellar innings against South Africa in a live Test series, across from you the greatest ever NZ batsman and your captain ties the record for most centuries ever for NZ at the ripe old age of 26... and you look like you forget how to bat after a few jammy spin overs and the pace bowlers coming back.

Was 13 (52) after tea.

I don't care if Nicolls scored a century in the last Test, he's not up to the international level.

Kane also looks like he's back to his best which is pleasing.
