Too little too late obviously, but getting them 7 down or so will at least give them some boost in confidence going into the last game.

We were all basically watching this match expecting **** to go down in Days 4 and 5. It's been pretty dull barring a few really good spells and the occasional brain fade from the batsmen keeping it interesting.

But yet you know this pitch will be rated better than the first two test's pitches. Zzz

Really should stop rating pitches on these idealogical concepts of what enables 'good' cricket and instead base it on how much enjoyment the spectators get. Thrilling cricket is what will bring in new fans and makes the $$$. Not **** like this. And sure that's a slippery slope that could lead to either hyper flat hit-a-six-whenever-you-want pitches or Sabina Park style pitches, but those would still be preferable to this.
Could imagine Pujara's innings being considered by some to be a match-losing knock this game. Would be stupid because without it India wouldn't have even got a lead but still 500+ balls for 200 is a long innings.

IMO Pune has been the best pitch in this series and it wasn't a particularly great pitch. And honestly I don't think that has anything to do with the results of the game, they just really haven't been particularly good wickets. Winning the toss here and in Bangalore was too much of an advantage, this pitch hasn't assisted the bowlers enough, Bangalore had too much variable bounce on the first couple of days, and Pune was the best of the lot but I think big turners that end in 3 days should be an occasional sort of thing and not a common pitch. It's not ideological, it's just about solid, balanced, entertaining cricket. You want decent carry and reasonably predictable bounce, viability for various types of bowling and so on.

It's been a great series though and I don't care a huge amount about the pitches, I just don't see why people are so sensitive to criticism of the surfaces. The series between these sides last time they played in Australia also had pretty crappy pitches on the whole.

Hope we clean up the tail the next over, setting us a target of 40 in 3 overs, leading to Pujara blocking out 17 balls before Steyn bops Mohammad Shami over long on for six.

I actually don't mind this pitch. Both sides could easily have been rolled for a fair bit less than they got, but both batted really well. I was hard work for the bowlers, but not like they were cannon fodder. Tough Test match cricket.

Kohli should be rested for the next match if we are to win the series. What a stupid little ****. Bowled pacers when t should have been spinners. Should be ****ing shot.

This in itself is ideological though.

To be fair, so is what ***** posted after he slammed everyone else for being ideological.

i'll stick to my ideology
Seriously tho. If you let fan's entertainment dictate what a 'good' pitch is, you probably wouldn't see pitches so extremely bad that batsmen actually playing shots is impossible. I'm fairly certain a huge number of fans would look at that and go 'jesus christ that's not right, can we not have more pitches like that please?' The public outrage at the Pune pitch across the board shows us that fans don't enjoy pitches which take skill almost completely out of the game.

That pitch was probably as bad a pitch as an 'acceptable' pitch can be. If it were any worse no one would want to watch cricket being played on it because then it literally becomes a one dimensional lottery.

funny how rekt we'd probably be if there was literally just one more session to play in this test
I actually think Australia could survive another session. Lead is 44 now, if they could bat another hour it would start to get tricky to chase the runs in the time remaining and I think that's fairly likely.

But obviously anything could happen.

In other news, why are they still playing. Jesus Kohli.
