Not a bad show, but I thought Strowman losing was dumb, Bayley winning also somewhat dumb, Rusev jobbing to Show also dumb, and the fact that the main event was a 3 min squash was also pretty meh.

Heel turn tomorrow night, triple threat at Mania, seems straight forward enough, thought it was a poor PPV, but not really sure why people are complaining about the end of that match. It made total sense and gives the writers plenty to work with coming up to Mania.

That match and build up least of my concerns for Mania.
Yeah, Sasha is torn up that Bayley achieved what she never could -- a PPV victory over Charlotte -- and it creates one hell of a three-way blood feud.

Flip-flopping the title last year doesn't look so silly now, eh?

I think it still looks pretty silly tbh. People are heavily invested in all of these three regardless of storyline. Could have got to the same outcome without all the bullshit.

Couldn't you have just had..... Bayley defeat Charlotte, clean, at WM?
Yeah after the HIAC this should have been the overall objective imo. The two of them 1 v 1 at WM would have been a great well to blow off the whole story/PPV streak.

Nah, dem WM triple threats. Gotta get everyone on the card and in a title match.

Can you say C-c-c-c-cRUISERWEIGHT OPEN?

Kota Ibushi is wrestling in England this weekend btw. One show in London and one in Essex. I think tickets are still available. He's in a tag in the London show but that show also has Ospreay vs Pentagon Jr in a singles match so...

njpw anniversary show on right now. main event of Okada vs masked Kota Ibushi, plus Shibata vs. Zack Sabre Jr. (NJPW debut, used to be a Noah guy) and Takahashi vs. Ryusuke Taguchi, which should be really good, using Ospreay vs Taguchi as a baseline

these were all good. another anniversary show tomorrow night, the card will be announced a few hours before the show. i assume they'll mostly be tag matches, setting up stuff for the April 9 PPV (Sakura Genesis). The group stages of the New Japan Cup takes place on the weekend (NJPW reveals 2017 New Japan Cup brackets). Tanahashi vs. EVIL & Shibata vs. Minoru Suzuki will be the respective main events I think. Ishii vs Omega should be pretty pretty good too

Instead they wasted it on a random RAW.

Charlotte's PPV streak on the line, Bayley's big underdog moment à la her TakeOver win against Sasha still intact on the main roster. That'd be a pretty cool Wrestlemania moment and I don't even like Bayley.

Austin Aries is ****ing OVER now. I love it. His time on commentary has really put him over with the audience. I thought a three or fourway match for the title at Wrestlemania would be the go to, but a Aries vs. Neville singles match would be great too.

Yeah they'll never quite be able to replicate the magic of Bayley being an underdog in the way she was in NXT, but this would be a great way to transition Charlotte to tweener and Sasha to the big heel of the division. Heel Sasha is $$$. Raw needs more credible faces though otherwise we're in for 6 months of Bayley getting kicked the **** out of by everyone.

Need to make Bray vs Randy the ME at Mania. Golbore vs Brock will be a disaster.
Yeah, I was just thinking this. I think the F5 on RAW was the first bump Bill has taken since returning, and I'm not sure if it was just him selling it really well, but he looked like it destroyed him. For me a WM main event needs to go at least ten mins. It honestly looks like that might be beyond Goldberg. Fair enough if that's the case, the dude is 50 years old and hasn't wrestled for like 13 years, but that's why he probably shouldn't be headlining the biggest show of the year.

Plenty of good moments from RAW though. I particularly liked the Strowman/Undertaker/Reigns segment, almost in spite of myself. I've seen a few people complaining that it made Strowman look weak, but I disagree entirely. Strowman leaving the ring out of deference to Taker showed a different dimension to his character. It demonstrated that whilst he is a brute he's able to show respect in moments of high magnitude, and the way he departed the ring with a nod to Taker as if to say "yeah, fair enough, you need this one more than me" (despite the fact that Taker probably doesn't need it more than him notwithstanding) I thought was cool. We don't see enough of this kind of thing in Pro-Wrestling imo, not in the WWE anyway.

Also I enjoyed how the crowd popped big for Taker attacking Reigns. Probably just forecasts how this match could also be a total disaster crowd-wise at WM though.

Neville vs Aries is probably the best thing they could go with imo. If they want to make the cruiserweight title (and any other title for that matter) mean something then it needs to be defended 1 v 1 on the big shows as a culmination of proper storylines. The best way to devalue any belt is to have it defended in random multi-man matches which are thrown together at the last minute.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching multi-man matches, especially if they are gimmick matches, but unless you can actually build a storyline into them (e.g. like the stories behind the Hardys/Edge & Christian/Dudleys feuds) they more often than not tend to be instantly forgettable.

Am I the only one who wants to punch Enzo in the face whenever I see him? It's beyond lame now.

He has began to grate with me as well. I'm not sure if he's actively become more annoying than he used to be, or if he's just always been like this and it's getting stale, but either way, yes, bloke needs a slap.

In any event, I'd give it a year at most until Cass turns on him and gets a singles run. The E is obviously very big on Cass and is protecting him in his matches, and I wonder if the seeds for a turn are being sown already. He looked very pissed off after Enzo was pinned in their match the other night, for instance.

Enzo also isn't that good of a worker either which people have a tendency to ignore.

Yeah agree, he's serviceable at best, and that's possibly being generous. Actually his selling is pretty good tbf.

On an unrelated note, I continued my chronological watching of Wrestlemanias this eve. WM24 was tonight's fare.

Only got about halfway through, but the following stood out:

- Just how ****ing bad was the whole Hornswoggle angle? I know he only got put into the Vince's son storyline because of the McMahon death angle having to be nixed, but jesus christ this was bad. The match between JBL and Finlay was actually pretty decent, but the fact that it was built around a storyline about how not only was Hornswoggle not Vince's son, but that he was Finlay's son was just total garbage. Strangely it actually seemed pretty over from the crowd reactions, but listening to JR trying to put the whole thing over was really painful. "That's a proud family right there, look at that father and son" etc... Just crap.

- The MITB ladder match was actually really good, I had forgotten. What's funny though is how Jericho was the longest serving wrestler at the time of the match, and strangely enough he has outlasted everyone else who was in that match, none of whom now work for the E.

- The Batista v Umaga match was pretty bad, but saved somewhat by the fact that despite the powerbomb at the end being botched (and probably damaging big Dave's spine), it still looked pretty badass. And the whole angle was made better by Regal repeatedly referring to Umaga as Umanga.

I hate Ellsworth with all of my being, but he must have a ridiculously high self esteem to go along with how much people laugh at him.

Dude looks like he's having the time of his life.
